Silent Hill 2 Remake Will Reportedly Feature Pyramid Head Origin Story https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/silent-hill-2-remake-pyramid-head-origin-story/ Sun, 05 Nov 2023 03:06:00 +0000 Cade Onder 45260f81-b788-4685-a8a1-4a55db8d14d1

Silent Hill 2 remake will reportedly feature an origin story for Pyramid Head. The Silent Hill franchise has been on ice for about a full decade now, as there hasn't been a new game in the series since the Xbox 360/PS3 era. There would have been a new one for PS4 as Hideo Kojima was developing Silent Hills, but him and Konami had a falling out and the game was promptly canceled. Now, Konami is trying to revive the IP with multiple new games and a remake of the most beloved game in the series. While Silent Hill 2 is expected to have a fairly faithful recreation of its story, it will be modernized in many different ways.

One big change seems to be that Bloober Team is adding a backstory for Pyramid Head. The signature Silent Hill villain is a pretty mysterious one and a lot of fans would probably argue that is part of his appeal. Some of the best horror games and movies put their obscure their villains in mystery as it allows them to feel more scary. If you know too much about the monster/the killer/etc, it begins to demystify them and they lose the fear factor. Nevertheless, it seems like Bloober Team is going to try and reveal how Pyramid Head became what he is today. ResetEra user dpanim pointed out that Best Buy has a description that suggests Pyramid Head will get some kind of chapter or something that dives deep into his background.

Whether or not this will be good or bad remains to be seen. Some fans are skeptical of Bloober Team's ability to deliver on this remake as their work has been kind of hit or miss up to this point. Hopefully it all turns out well given Silent Hill 2 is one of the most respected horror games of all-time, but there's really no telling how fans will feel. We haven't heard a peep about the game since its reveal last October, but it's looking like it could release sometime in early 2024.

Attack on Titan Anime Finale Ending Explained https://comicbook.com/anime/news/attack-on-titan-final-episode-ending-explained/ Sun, 05 Nov 2023 02:44:00 +0000 Nick Valdez 72b0aa36-a066-434d-8118-8e7969a7fa95

Attack on Titan has finally come to an end over ten years after the anime first began, and the final moments of the series have teased that all of its conflicts have led to a brutal yet bright future! Attack on Titan's main conflict was the fact that Eren Yeager wanted some way to end all wars, and he came to the conclusion that it was necessary to kill off everyone outside of Paradis Island in order to get a semblance of peace. But as the final episode revealed his true plan, Eren had his sights on what would come after that genocide.

Attack on Titan Final Season THE FINAL CHAPTERS Special 2 picks up with the final fight between the final remnants of humanity against Eren to stop the Rumbling, and after the battle comes to an end, it's revealed the future he saw is a bleak one. In wanting to stop all of the fighting, what he's caused is yet another series of wars and fights in the future as humanity continues to grow and change its ideology anyway. And Eren was stuck within it.

How Does Attack on Titan End?

Attack on Titan Final Season THE FINAL CHAPTERS Special 2 sees Mikasa and the others are able to separate Ymir from Eren's control (after killing Zeke), and soon the fight comes to an end as Mikasa was able to deliver the final blow and cut off Eren's head within his giant Founding Titan form. It's here that a series of memories was revealed that Eren used his power to contact his friends within the Paths before the fight came to an end. He explained to each of them that he sought out the destruction of humanity and pushed them to fight because he wanted them to be heroes.

In fear of retaliation from the outside world, he wanted to make sure that Paradis had those fighting for humanity. It was the only outcome that he says he could have come up with thanks to how much the Attack Titan power had messed with his head, and despite Armin wanting to find another way, full genocide is what Eren wanted to do once he had the power to change the world in the way he saw fit. Following the battle, it's revealed that Armin and the others are trying to reach out to Eldia for peace with an allied nations group.

As Historia explains, a group of Yeagerists rose to power in Eldia and are preparing against a potential attack from the outside world. Holding up Eren as a sort of martyr, they truly believe that conflict is the only way to proceed. it's the case for the rest of the world as well. While Mikasa and the others are shown to live their final moments in peace, the anime shows that society continues advancing.

The episode's final credits show humanity continue to advance yet continue to fight one another and wipe each other out. Despite Eren's effort (and the loss of the Titan powers with Eren's defeat and Ymir finding a semblance of peace), the cycle of conflict continues through to the future. This massive fight came to an end with 80% of the world's population killed, and the cycle of recovery and fighting continues otherwise.

AEW Announces Winter is Coming Date for Dynamite https://comicbook.com/wwe/news/aew-announces-winter-is-coming-date-for-dynamite/ Sun, 05 Nov 2023 02:13:00 +0000 Matthew Aguilar c4784dc1-ee0b-4ccd-960f-1b2763bbb83b

An AEW fan-favorite event is making a return later this year. During the first match of tonight's episode of AEW Collision, AEW revealed that a Winter is Coming special edition of AEW Dynamite would be returning in 2023, and it will take place on December 13th. This year's Winter is Coming will take place at the College Park Center in Arlington Texas (via Fightful), and the event has been a favorite since it started in 2020. It's not known which matches will take place at the event just yet, but there has always been an AEW World Championship match at Winter is Coming, and that tradition is likely to continue, so MJF will probably be defending his Title that week.

Several memorable moments have occurred at past Winter is Coming events. That includes the AEW debut of Sting, which has become synonymous with the event, and that same event also included Kenny Omega defeating Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship.

2021's Winter is Coming was a bit less memorable, but still featured an AEW World Championship match between then Champion Hangman Adam Page and Bryan Danielson, though it did end in a time-limit draw. Wardlow, Hikaru Shida, and MJF were also featured in the episode that year.

2022's edition was a bit more eventful and was headlined by MJF defending his Championship from Ricky Starks. It wasn't just the Title on the line though, as the AEW Dynamite Diamond Ring was also up for grabs, and MJF walked away the victor. The fourth match in the best-of-seven series between Death Triangle and The Elite was also held, and Death Triangle would walk away with a 3 - 1 lead in the series. Jungle Boy, House of Black, Action Andretti, and Ruby Soho all got victories as well.

As for this year's Winter is Coming, no matches have been announced, but there are some possibilities. Wardlow already confronted MJF and is likely to get a Title shot, but it wasn't known if that would be at AEW World's End or something else. Winter is Coming could very well be the home for that match, though Samoa Joe is also continuing his campaign to battle MJF for the Title, and that could be a perfect match for the event as well. MJF is currently slated for a match against Jay White at Full Gear, and if White defeats him, it could change the Title picture and the list of challengers in a major way.

As for the AEW Women's Championship, Hikaru Shida could end up defending her Championship, but it's not known who might be in that spot. Like MJF, Shida is set to defend her AEW Women's Championship at Full Gear, where she will face Toni Storm. If Storm defeats her, we will likely have a new list of contenders for Winter is Coming, but we'll just have to wait and see. In the meantime, you can find the current card for AEW Full Gear below.

AEW Full Gear 2023 Card:

  • AEW World Championship Match: MJF (C) vs. Jay White
  • AEW Women's World Championship Match: Hikaru Shida (C) vs. Toni Storm
  • AEW International Championship Match: Orange Cassidy (C) vs. Jon Moxley
  • Swerve Strickland vs. Hangman Adam Page
  • Sting, Adam Copeland & Darby Allin vs. Christian Cage, Luchasaurus & Nick Wayne

Are you excited for Winter is Coming, and which matches do you want to see? Let us know in the comments, and as always you can talk all things wrestling with me on Threads @mattaguilarcb!

The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes Producer Talks Bringing The Hunger Games To New Audiences https://comicbook.com/movies/news/the-ballad-of-songbirds-snakes-producer-talks-bringing-the-hunger-games-to-new-audiences/ Sun, 05 Nov 2023 01:52:00 +0000 Jamie Jirak 41f218fe-a44a-4991-ad4f-5ad6998c32ff

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is heading to theaters this month, and it marks the first film in the franchise since The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 was released back in 2015. Each film in the franchise is based on the books by Suzanne Collins, and the first series of books and films was a huge phenomenon. ComicBook.com recently had the chance to chat with Nina Jacobson, who has produced every Hunger Games movie in addition to the upcoming prequel. We asked about the new film's darker themes and if there were any discussions about how a huge portion of the original film's fan base are now adults.

"We certainly thought a lot about the fact that, on the one hand, like I say, we have incredible fanship for these books and movies," Jacobson began. "We have, I think, really smart, creative, insightful fans. And so, we're always trying to live up to the promise of the material and the way that Suzanne is able to connect with her audiences, but I also think that we knew that a lot of people would be coming to this without having ever seen the movies. Now, Netflix and the run of the original movies on Netflix really brought a lot of new fans, people who hadn't grown up with it, who really discovered it recently on streaming, but we also wanted the movie to work for people who had no familiarity with any of it and to make sure that we made a movie that would work as well for the fans, we hope, as it does for the uninitiated."

Nina Jacobson Talks The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes Casting:

During ComicBook.com's interview with Jacobson, she opened up about the film's casting and the importance of finding the right actors to play younger versions of well-known characters in addition to relatives of well-known characters.

"Well, of course, any time that you're casting somebody, like you say, who's related or a younger version, obviously you're going to lop off a whole bunch of people who could be great, but who just don't look like they would ever grow up to be that person," Jacobson explained. "So you have the demands of, 'Can I believe that this young man becomes that older man?' And then also on the Lucy Gray [Rachel Zegler] front, even though she's not related to anybody, she has to be able to sing to inhabit that performer's personality, but also to kind of convey both the sort of savviness and street smarts of this character."

"And to have those questions of like, 'Is she Songbird or is she Snake?' Because she's always singing, but she's also always got a snake, or not always, but a good amount of the time," Jacobson continued. "So, just a reminder that none of these characters are meant to be all one or the other. And so, you have to get actors who can bring that level of complexity and nuance. It's much easier to just play a straight-up good guy, straight-up bad guy, but to have to kind of live in the middle and the pull and the push, and we wanted audiences to also wonder, is it real or not real?"

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is set to open in theaters on November 17th. You can watch our interview with Jacobson at the top of the page.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Players Discover Glitch to Change Time of Day https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/marvels-spiderman-2-players-time-of-day-night-glitch/ Sun, 05 Nov 2023 01:48:00 +0000 Cade Onder c10f5ccc-8480-494b-b9fa-644bd29bf3fd

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 players have figured out how to change the time of day in the game. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is one of the most beloved games of the year, but some fans are longing for more. For starters, fans are hoping for DLC. The story already had a lot packed into it and there is a lot of set up for a third game, but fans are hoping for something like a Daredevil DLC or something of the sorts. The first game had three pieces of DLC which were a bit mixed, but fans were happy to continue spending time in that world. Insomniac Games has yet to confirm or deny if it will be doing any DLC, but there are a lot of possible DLCs for some.

On top of that, fans are hoping to see some quality of life changes that add features like the ability to change the time of day. Since Marvel's Spider-Man 2 doesn't have a day/night cycle, the game is permanently stuck during the afternoon once you beat the game. The rest of the game has evening, night, rain storms at night, overcast weather, and more to give the game a variety of looks. This was perfect for photo mode lovers, but the endgame feels like it is permanently 2 PM. Well, some fans figured out how to glitch the game to turn it to night time. You can view the video below for a step by step of how to do it, but if you enter a Mysterio level while the game speed is turned down and then replay the mission from the map, you will respawn with the game now being set at night.

It's unclear if this will get patched, but it's a nice alternative right now. You should still back up your save before you do this, as it may have unknown side effects on the game and you may not be able to re-enter to day time. As of right now, we have no idea what to expect from future Marvel's Spider-Man 2 updates outside of New Game+.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Cast and James Gunn Selling Signed Poster for Veterans Day Auction https://comicbook.com/marvel/news/guardians-of-the-galaxy-vol-3-mcu-poster-auction-james-gunn-veterans-day-ebay/ Sun, 05 Nov 2023 00:51:00 +0000 Jamie Jirak 69f60e54-bbb7-4a3a-834c-e38aa10e7a64

Veterans Day is Saturday, November 11th, and it's a holiday dedicated to honoring military veterans of the United States Armed Forces. Since the holiday is right around the corner, director James Gunn and the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are auctioning off a signed poster on eBay with all net proceeds going to support Homes For Our Troops, Inc. Gunn shared the link today, and at the time of this writing, the bidding is currently up to $5,100.

"This #VeteransDay, I'm supporting @homesforourtrps by offering a @Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 Poster signed by me, @prattprattpratt,@zoesaldana, Bradley Cooper, @DaveBautista, @karengillan, @PomKlementieff, @seangunn, @NathanFillion, @MariaBakalova96 & Chukwudi Iwuji! Bid now on @ebay to support injured Veterans nationwide," Gunn wrote. "Oh it's also signed by Will Poulter," he added. You can check out the details in the post below:

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Set a World Record:

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 set the record for the most makeup appliances used in a single film with more than 23,000 prosthetics used across more than 1,000 actors. For comparison, there were 1,200 prosthetics used in the first Guardians of the Galaxy. Before Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 beat the record, it was held by The Grinch for over 20 years.

"We always knew that it was going to be a lot because when you're reading the script, and you're designing the characters you're kind of like, 'This could be a big movie...' I don't think any of us truly understood the sheer volume of work that was done until we were there," Legacy FX co-founder Lindsay MacGowan told Deadline.

Chris Pratt Almost Gave Up On Marvel:

Earlier this year, Pratt appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and revealed he almost gave up on auditioning for Marvel before Guardians.

"I auditioned for Thor, but not even to be Thor - but to be one of the sidekick guys, and I didn't get a callback," Pratt shared. "Usually they give you a little bit of feedback, and I remember the casting director goes, 'Wow. You really made a big choice there.' Which is code for like, 'Hey, dial back the acting there, guy.'" He added, "It got to the point where I was never gonna audition for Marvel again ... I was like, 'This is stupid, I'm never gonna be in a Marvel movie.'"

"I mean, all of them," Pratt said when asked which Marvel projects he auditioned for. "Anything that came out that needed a guy that even remotely looked like me, I auditioned for in some way or another. And I would either submit a tape and they would say 'No, we don't need to see him,' or I would get there and see them, they'd go, 'No, that's the last time we need to see you."

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now streaming on Disney+.

Barbenheimer Movie From Puppet Master Creator Reveals Synopsis https://comicbook.com/horror/news/barbenheimer-movie-from-puppet-master-creator-reveals-synopsis/ Sun, 05 Nov 2023 00:49:00 +0000 Nicole Drum b03abb45-9fd3-481c-8137-b747a083170a

This summer, the simultaneous release of Barbie and Oppenheimer became more than an impressive time for the box office. It was a full-on cultural phenomenon the likes of which hasn't been seen for a long time going so far as to get its own moniker -- Barbenheimer. It's no surprise that such a massive event would spark the attention of those making films about and inspired by the phenomenon and in August, Charles Band, the creator of the Puppet Master horror franchise, announced that he is producing a film called Barbenheimer about dolls trying to make a nuke. Now, Band has revealed that film's synopsis.

The film is set to follow Dr. Bambi J. Barbenheimer, described as a "brilliant scientist doll living in Dolltopia, a world of endless summers and beach parties" and her boyfriend Twink Dollman. However, incensed by the brutal treatment dolls receive at the hands of human children, Dr. Barbenheimer ventures into the real world and experiences humanity at its worst and decides to build a giant nuclear bomb to take it all out. "They got great looks and a super attitude. Oh, and now they've got the bomb," the synopsis reads (via The Hollywood Reporter.)

While the synopsis might sound a little silly, Band isn't denying that. In fact, the filmmaker embraces it and says that the world needs a little humor.

"It's so silly," Band says. "But it seems like every other feature is dark and depression, it's like, god, we need a little humor going into 2024."

Band is also open about the film being an attempt to cash in on the "Barbenheimer" cultural phenomenon.

"It's 100 percent true," he said. "But it's also an opportunity to have fun with the bizarre coupling of these two movies and the combination of Barbie's vibe and the darkness of Oppenheimer. You mix that together and you have such an opportunity for dark humor.

The Actual Barbie Movie Almost Poked Fun At A Movie Other Than The "Snyder Cut" of Justice League

During a recent appearance at the Writers Guild of America West headquarters, Barbie director and co-writer Greta Gerwig revealed that the film's reference to the "Snyder Cut" of Justice League -- with Barbie (Alexandra Shipp) admitting she felt like she was "very invested" in the film while brainwashed by the hyper-masculine Kens -- wasn't in the original script. Instead, there was actually a line referencing 1982's Blade Runner, and the infamous debate over its voiceover element.

"One of the Barbies says to Ken, 'Oh my god, I never would have realized that Deckard was a replicant,'" Gerwig recalled with a laugh. "Then when she gets unbrainwashed, there's a version where she said, 'I liked the voiceover. I needed it to help me understand what was happening. Nobody's following this.'"

According to co-writer Noah Baumbach, there were very brief plans to include Blade Runner director Ridley Scott in Barbie in a cameo appearance, but it did not pan out.

"It wasn't making fun of him. We loved him as we love all of our references," Baumbach said, with Gerwig adding, "Every reference we had was out of love. We love Sly Stallone. Everything was a lighters-up tribute."

The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes Director Francis Lawrence Talks The "Fun" Of Bringing The Hunger Games To Life https://comicbook.com/movies/news/the-ballad-of-songbirds-snakes-director-francis-lawrence-talks-the-fun-of-bringing-the-hunger-games-to-life/ Sun, 05 Nov 2023 00:03:00 +0000 Jamie Jirak b020c60c-186a-48cf-987a-4dad305c5c07

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is heading to theaters this month, and it's the fourth film of the franchise to be helmed by Francis Lawrence. The new film is based on Suzanne Collins' book of the same name and takes place 64 years before the first Hunger Games. ComicBook.com recently had the chance to interview Lawrence about the film, and he talked about working with Collins and creating the look of the fictional time period and the "fun" of bringing the 10th Annual Hunger Games to life.

"I think part of what was fun about this... I mean, maybe I did [learn lessons] just because I've done some of the Games before on the other ones. And so, when you come back to these Games, and even though the arena is very different and it's much more rudimentary, you want to make sure that you're approaching the Games in very different ways, and that the beginning of the Games and the way the Games start and all of that has really specific emotional values that differ from the ones we've seen before," Lawrence explained.

"More of what she and I would talk about is maintaining the rudimentary nature of the Games themselves," he continued. "And we had talked a lot about the sort of level of technology. And then, really, I worked with Uli Hanisch to kind of create the look of this. And I think Suzanne always gives me the freedom to go where I want to go with that. And we really just looked at reconstruction-era Berlin, 1945, the end of the war. How do you sort of rebuild from all that damage after the dark days of war? And that's kind of what we looked at and why we ended up really shooting in Berlin for most of the movie.

Who Stars In The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes?

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes stars Tom Blyth as Coriolanus Snow, Rachel Zegler as Lucy Gray Baird, Viola Davis as Head Gamemaker Volumnia Gaul, Peter Dinklage as Casca Highbottom, Jason Schwartzman as Lucretius "Lucky" Flickerman, Hunter Schafer as Tigris Snow, and Josh Andr?s Rivera as Sejanus Plinth.

The movie will also include Fionnula Flanagan as Grandma'am, young Coriolanus Snow's grandmother. Isobel Jesper Jones is playing Mayfair Lipp, the daughter of the mayor of District 12. Honor Gillies will be making her professional acting debut as Barb Azure. Eike Onyambu has been cast as Tam Amber, Konstantin Taffet will be playing Clerk Carmine, Burn Gorman is Commander Hoff, Scott Folan is Beanpole, Carl Spencer is Smiley, and Michael Greco and Daniela Grubert have been cast as Strabo Plinth and Mrs. Plinth, the wealthy parents to Sejanus Plinth, Coriolanus's best friend. Nick Benson, Laurel Marsden, Lilly Cooper, Luna Steeples, and Hiroki Berrecboth are also a part of the cast.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is set to open in theaters on November 17th. You can watch our interview with Lawrence at the top of the page.

Attack on Titan Anime Finale Is Now Streaming: Watch https://comicbook.com/anime/news/attack-on-titan-final-episode-anime-websites-streaming/ Sun, 05 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Nick Valdez 407f0d83-fef2-4e93-b50b-61039d5a6929

Attack on Titan has returned for the final half of the latest part of its fourth and final season, and that means the anime has come to an end with its final episode after over ten years since it first began. Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan franchise really took over the world as while the manga ended its run a couple of years ago, fans have been eagerly anticipating seeing how the anime brought it all to an end. Given that the anime helped to usher in a new wave of popularity for anime releases in the 2010's, it's no surprise to see Attack on Titan's finale being such a huge event as well.

Attack on Titan Final Season THE FINAL CHAPTERS Special 2 serves as the grand finale for the anime overall as it adapts the final few chapters from Hajime Isayama's original Attack on Titan manga. There were lots of questions as to how the anime would end considering that Isayama has altered the ending of the manga since it was released, but now that it's out and streaming with Crunchyroll, fans can see how it all turned out for themselves.

Jujutsu Kaisen Cosplay Burns It Down With Jogo https://comicbook.com/anime/news/jujutsu-kaisen-season-2-jogo-anime-cosplay/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 23:59:00 +0000 Nick Valdez 2e82dbfb-a5bd-4d3b-bcfc-de3207c3eeb2

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 has fully brought Jogo into the big fights of the Shibuya Incident arc at last, and one awesome cosplay is helping to burn it all down with the Special Grade Cursed Spirit! Jujutsu Kaisen introduced Gojo as one of the more dangerous curses that were hanging around with Suguru Geto in the first season of the series, and although he had a frightening debut sequence, Jogo really hasn't been seen in a full fight yet as other members of Geto's group have been more on the front lines. That is until now as he's forced to move.

With some of the stronger curses being defeated in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 so far, Jogo has officially entered the fight in a surprising way as he now finds himself squaring off against Sukuna for the future of his plan for curses overall. With the anime preparing to show off more of his fiery powers in action, artist sailorkayla on TikTok is already setting screens on fire with a scary good cosplay for the Cursed Spirit. Check it out in action below:

How to Catch Up With Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 has reached a pivotal phase of the Shibuya Incident arc as it won't be much longer until fans get to see its fiercest fights take shape, and Jogo's in one of them as he prepares to face Sukuna. You can currently catch up with everything that's happened in Jujutsu Kaisen's first two seasons so far (and Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie) now streaming with Crunchyroll if you wanted to get up to speed before the new episodes continue. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 teases the Shibuya Incident Arc as such:

"Starting on October 31st, a curtain is suddenly lowered around the Shibuya station, which is busy on Halloween. A large number of civilians are trapped... and the civilians begin asking for Satoru Gojo. In order to minimize damage, higher-ups choose to handle Shibuya by having Gojo work there alone. Geto, Mahito, and other curses set traps and wait while Gojo arrives. Yuji, Megumi, Nobara, Nanami, and many others wait outside the curtain. An unprecedented battle of curses begins soon after as sorcerers and curses converge in Shibuya."

The Boys Season 4: Creator Confirms Franchise Timeline After Gen V Finale https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/the-boys-season-4-franchise-timeline-gen-v-finale/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 23:47:00 +0000 Spencer Perry 8339c9f4-12bd-4e80-bc19-98d553e89060

Gen V, despite being set in the world of The Boys, didn't really go out of its way to firmly set itself in the timeline of the series. Though the show was clearly set after the events of The Boys season 3, its place was nebulous. Now we have an official update from one of the lead creative voices in The Boys about not only where Gen V lands in the timeline but how it will work with The Boy season 4 and the already announced Gen V season two. Speaking in an interview with Variety, The Boys creator and Gen V executive producer Eric Kripke fully confirmed the timeline of the two shows and how they will interact moving forward.

"In our minds, it's only a couple of days after whatever the events are of Gen V," Kripke revealed about the events of The Boys season 4. "We try to keep the timeline super simple because all that folding-in-on-itself timeline stuff that I think other comic book universes find themselves having to do is just bewildering for me as a viewer. So it's all very modular. It's like there's Season 3 of The Boys, and then after that Gen V takes place, and then after that The Boys Season 4 takes place. And then after that, Gen V Season 2 takes place. It's all more like cars on a train than it is a plate of spaghetti."

Is Gen V connected to The Boys?

Yes, Gen V is set in the same universe as The Boys. A handful of characters appear in both shows including, Jessie T. Usher as A-Train, Colby Minifie as Vought's Ashley Barrett, P.J. Byrne as director Adam Bourke, Antony Starr as Homelander, and even Karl Urban as Billy Butcher. The characters that Gen V focuses on all attend Godolkin University, a college that is sponsored and run by Vought International from The Boys, and also has a history in the pages of The Boys comic books.

In the same interview with Eric Kripke confirmed the timeline of The Boys TV shows, he was asked if The Boys season 4 would offer any teases for Gen V season 2 or if any of the characters would make an appearance, simply replying "Shrug emoji? Tune in. I will neither confirm nor deny."

When is Gen V season 2?

Prime Video and Sony Pictures Television have not confirmed any timing yet for Gen V season 2, but in theory we could see the series return around the same timeframe with an August or September 2024 premiere. This remains unconfirmed as of this writing.

When does The Boys season 4 come out?

No official release date for The Boys season 4 has been confirmed, but the new episodes of the series have been shot and it will arrive at some point in the not-too-distant future. Prime Video likes to keep things on schedule, with The Boys typically arriving in a summer release, so something in that window might be where The Boys season 4 lands. No official word has been announced for the release of The Boys season 4, but a spring or summer 2024 release date seems likely.

The Hunger Games Star Stanley Tucci Bringing Back Viral Discontinued Pastina Pasta For the Holidays https://comicbook.com/irl/news/stanley-tucci-pastina-pasta-san-pellegrino-meal-kit/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 23:47:00 +0000 Nicole Drum 8a368e96-03d1-40d6-a50b-c4263c52651d

There's nothing quite like the disappointment when a beloved product is discontinued -- especially when it's food -- and for fans of pasta brand Ronzoni's Pastina, 2023 kicked off on a sad note. In January, the brand announced that the beloved, tin star-shaped pasta was being discontinued and fans quickly took to social media to express their sadness about the loss of what was, for many, an important culinary staple. But now, The Hunger Games and Searching for Italy star Stanley Tucci is stepping to save the day. Earlier this week, S. Pellegrino Sparkling Natural Mineral Water -- whose logo just so happens to be a star -- announced that they are teaming up with Tucci to revive pastina as part of a limited-edition star-shaped pasta and recipe kit just in time for the holidays.

According to the brand, they've collaborated with Italian pasta brand Rummo for S. Pellegrino Stelline pasta, which pays homage to the brand's iconic red star logo while also giving them that tiny, star-shape pasta fans so love that's been part of Italian and American tables for decades. The pasta is available as part of the S. Pellegrino Presents: Stanley Tucci's Stelline Two Ways premium recipe kit which includes fresh ingredients, premium Italian products, two bags of the pasta, and a bottle of S. Pellegrino so that fans can recreate two of Tucci's personal recipes featuring the pasta.

"I had so much fun sharing a taste of my family's recipes with S. Pellegrino last year that we're doing it again -- but this time, fans will get two dishes inspired by one beloved pasta shape that's a staple in my kitchen all winter long," Tucci said. "For many years, S. Pellegrino has held a special place at my holiday table. I'm honored to share my traditions with fans with this delicious recipe kit and play a role in bringing the classic star-shaped pasta to the many Americans who've been missing it with S. Pellegrino Stelline."

The recipes in the kit are Tucci's Brodo di Gallina con Polpettine di Pollo (Chicken Soup With Tiny Chicken Meatballs), an elevated take on chicken noodle soup, as well as Pastina Classica, Tucci's version of the beloved pastina dish. Fans can purchase the kit for $89 (includes shipping) here. Weekly drops take place on November 8th, November 15th, and November 27th while supplies last.

"When we heard how dismayed fans were when one of their favorite pasta shapes was discontinued earlier this year, we wanted to find a way to help," said Sara Mayer, senior marketing manager, S. Pellegrino. "S. Pellegrino's iconic star logo serves as the perfect inspiration for bringing this star-shaped pasta to the U.S. along with help from our friend Stanley Tucci. We hope S. Pellegrino Stelline inspires everyone to add an authentic Italian touch to their holiday spreads and enjoy stellar moments together around the table."

In Other Food News

In other recent food news, with November ushering in the start of the holiday seasons, we're seeing a variety of interesting seasonal food and treat offerings. Earlier this week, Campbells debuted their new Holiday Sides Collection of chocolates with Phillip Ashley Chocolates. The collection features six truffles each inspired by beloved holiday side dishes and created with Campbell's soups. Eggo also announced their own seasonal offering with the return of Eggo Nog. The drink, which first debuted last year in partnership with Sugarlands Distilling Co., is back for a second year and is described as a decadent, rum-based liqueur with cinnamon and nutmeg flavor notes.

Will you be checking out the return of pastina with Tucci's new kit? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section!

Invincible Premiere Introduces Season 2's Big Villain https://comicbook.com/anime/news/invincible-season-2-angstrom-levy-villain/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 23:30:00 +0000 Nick Valdez 0a7b4a43-cb43-499c-b128-12d376e1409e

Invincible has officially returned to screens with Season 2 of the animated series, and the premiere episode of the season has introduced the new big villain that Mark Grayson will be dealing with in the coming episodes! Invincible's first season saw Mark take some huge losses as he not only started out his run as a superhero while figuring out how to use his newly acquired powers, but it was also further complicated by the reveal that his father was actually Earth's biggest villain. With that put aside for now, some new villains are going to enter the fray soon enough.

Omni-Man is still out of the picture as Invincible Season 2 kicks off, and Episode 1 sees Mark trying to recover mentally and physically from everything that happened in his fight with his dad. All the while a new face has popped up, Angstrom Levy, who not only has powers that connect him to a wide multiverse of realities, but by the end of the episode has named Mark as a major threat that must be eliminated as he's been changed dramatically in his first run in with the hero.

Who Is Invincible Season 2's New Villain?

Invincible Season 2 Episode 1, "A Lesson For Your Next Life" begins with a look at a different universe in which Mark ended up listening to his father and becoming a conqueror for the Viltrum Empire. Their world has been completely destroyed by Mark and Omni-Man, and it's here that we're first introduced to Angstrom Levy. But it's soon revealed that the one in our Mark's universe has been gathering the other scattered versions of himself for a grand new plan.

Wanting to unite all of their knowledge together with his in order to find out how to better his universe (with a noble pursuit in mind at first), he attaches himself to a large volatile machine to make it happen. It's here that Invincible arrives (on Cecil's orders) and Angstrom ends up interrupting the brain download process when it looks like the young hero is going to die in front of him. Naturally it doesn't go well as it results in an explosion that kills all the other Angstroms.

When Angstrom awakens, his brain has been mutated to a huge new size and the memories of his other multiverse selves blend with his own. Seeing the other evil versions of Invincible and what they've done to their worlds (and blaming Mark his own brain mutation mishap) Angstrom now vows to take out Invincible moving forward.

Now it's just a matter of seeing what Mark will do with this new villain on his tail in Invincible Season 2. What do you want to see? Let us know all of your thoughts about it in the comments! Is a Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Releasing Soon? https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/the-legend-of-zelda-ocarina-of-time-remake-nintendo-switch-2023/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 23:28:00 +0000 Tyler Fischer 2ec94d63-062a-4ddc-ab9b-af0c6cc946d0

Thanks to a pair of teases from a couple of industry insiders, Nintendo fans are wondering if a Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is not only real, but releasing soon. It began on October 29 when a well known industry analyst and occasional teaser, Dr. Serkan Toto, in a now deleted tweet, tweeted "Z R 2023." For a couple of reasons, Nintendo fans took this as a hint that a Zelda remake is going to release this year.

Fast-forward to November 2, and Nintendo leaker Zippo has claimed "The Hero of Time will return in the very near future." That said, where Toto made no mention or hint at what Zelda game could be remade, Zippo accompanies this tease with a picture of Link from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The image could have been chosen at random, but this seems unlikely.

Of course, if another Zelda game was going to be remastered or remade for Nintendo Switch, Ocarina of Time would be the most obvious choice simply because it would be the most popular choice, but there have been rumors of Twilight Princess and Wind Waker remakes in the past as well. Of course, Zelda fans would be excited to see either of these return as well, but Ocarina of Time is guaranteed to produce the biggest pop.

Unfortunately, this is the extent of the teases. Right now, it seems clear the pair are committing to something with Zelda before the end of the year, but there's no definitive reporting, just teasing, and nothing that confirms this return will be Ocarina of Time. And of course, there's no guarantee either of the teases are based in anything accurate. And unfortunately, Nintendo is not going to set the record straight with a comment. If it does, we will update the story accordingly, but we don't expect it so say a peep about this, regardless of whether there's anything to either tease. In the meantime, take everything here with a grain of salt.

As always, feel free to leave a comment or two letting us know what you think. If Nintendo releases a Legend of Zelda remake this year, which Zelda would you like to see remade?

Overwatch 2 Devs Reveal Mauga's Role in the Meta, Best Character Pairing https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/overwatch-2-devs-mauga-in-the-meta/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 23:04:00 +0000 Spencer Perry 52e42cc0-84f0-4a85-bf24-650190da7067

This weekend with BlizzCon, the Overwatch 2 development team not only confirmed the new tank character for the game, the Samoan hero Mauga, but actually made him playable. Attendees of BlizzCon weren't the only ones that could get their hands on Mauga but Overwatch 2 players around the world were given the chance to try him out early for this weekend only. Mauga will officially arrive in Overwatch 2 with season 8, kicking off in December of this year. ComicBook.com was on hand for a group interview with a member of the Overwatch 2 development team, speaking with Hero Design Producer Kenny Hudson who offered details about Mauga's place in the game and how confident Blizzard is with his release.

f-cu9h0w8aeulu7.jpg
(Photo: Overwatch 2)

Overwatch 2: Mauga's role in the meta

"So he's a rush down, kind of brawl tank, but he's also a tank that can hitscan and hit flying targets and a lot of those faster enemies. So we'd like to see him in comps where he can get boosted by Lucio or Lifeweaver can heal him a lot because he's a big target. But he can use his overrun to get into fights. Healers can heal him up, save him a little bit, but he can also take down those you know, pesky Pharahs or Echoes or something like that and pick them off like a Junker Queen couldn't or a Roadhog couldn't. "

Some Overwatch 2 players have already expressed a little bit of concern about the arrival of Mauga in the next season of the game, specifically because many of the hard-counter characters are in such a good play. Characters like Ana, Sombra, Symmetra, and Orissa are all good counters to Mauga that happen to be in good spots overall in Overwatch 2, does that deflate the arrival of Mauga when his counters are also great? Hudson responds:

"Well, we feel like we're dropping Mauga into a place where he's always he's also in a good place. He outputs a lot of damage. So I don't think there's anything necessarily wrong with having a good counter to a hero. But Mauga;s upside is that he is going to output a ton of damage and we feel like that's okay for tanks too."

Overwatch 2 characters that pair with Mauga

Overwatch 2 remains a team based shooter, meaning Mauga's design and kit puts him in a place to work with some characters better than others. In development one of the first characters that it became clear would pair well with him was Ashe, since both can ignite enemy characters with fire, but one pairing that came as a surprise and wasn't considered at first was how Mauga plays with support character Lifeweaver.

"I definitely think Liveweaver pairs well," Hudson said. "Being able to rush in and kind of have that save waiting for you and a healing output sent on the way to your destination felt really good. And then I would say the Ash interaction once we figured out that that's what we wanted. We wanted to keep Margaret's theme of fire. We wanted, obviously Ash is going to keep her theme of fire for dynamite. And we didn't want players to have to learn two different visual languages for almost the same thing. When we put those two things together and figured hey like what if you got the bonus critical strike from Ashe dynamite like it kind of seemed like a match made in heaven while we were play testing."

Overwatch 2 will continue to drop new characters every other season

Since Overwatch 2 began with its season roll out, the development team has consistently released a new hero with every other season (starting with the even numbered seasons). When asked if Blizzard had any intention of revising their plans of a new hero every other season, Hudson was quick to note that they'll definitely stick to this because they have more heroes in development right now than they've ever had.

"Interestingly enough with the team the way we have it structured now and we're structured for Overwatch 2, this is actually the most amount of heroes that we've ever had in simultaneous development at one time. So I'm pretty confident looking at the schedule, which is my everyday thing, that we're pretty comfortable with where things are and pretty confident that we're going to hit our targets for releasing a new hero every other season."

Is Overwatch 2 free?

Since the launch of Overwatch 2 in October of 2022, yes, Overwatch 2 is now a free to play game.

Attack on Titan Creator Shares Special Art for Anime's Finale https://comicbook.com/anime/news/attack-on-titan-final-episode-hajime-isayama-anime-art/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 22:55:00 +0000 Nick Valdez 4a7ab487-2b51-4b9d-86c6-20d033414089

Attack on Titan's anime is officially ending its run over ten years after it first hit screens around the world, and the creator behind it all is marking the occasion with a special new sketch for the release of the final episode! Attack on Titan's anime is reaching its grand finale after splitting up the final season of its series across multiple years and multiple parts, so it's been quite the tough wait for fans as they eagerly wait to see how it all comes to an end. But it's been an even tougher wait for the creator behind it all, Hajime Isayama.

Following several days of counting down and several months since the first half of the anime's finale premiered earlier this year, Attack on Titan Final Season THE FINAL CHAPTERS Special 2 has officially released in Japan. While fans outside of Japan wait for their chance to see the final episode in action, Attack on Titan creator Hajime Isayama is thanking fans for all of their support for the anime over the years with some special art for the final episode. Check it out below:

Where to Watch Attack on Titan Final Episode

Attack on Titan's creator had the following to save about the anime's ending, "It's been 10 years since the anime started. Thank you very much for sticking with us through all that time. The climax scene that happens in the last half of the final season was very hard to draw in the original manga, as well, so I couldn't help but think, 'This is going to be rough for MAPPA. MAPPA is probably thinking 'Please stop.' I'm sorry, MAPPA, I'm really sorry.' Even then, I'm very excited to see how it'll turn out in the anime. Also this time, by my request, I got to draw a little of the rough draft toward the end. Please watch until the end."

Running for 85 minutes in total and adapting the final chapters of Hajime Isayama's original manga, Crunchyoll teases Attack on Titan Final Season THE FINAL CHAPTERS as such, "The fate of the world hangs in the balance as Eren unleashes the ultimate power of the Titans. With a burning determination to eliminate all who threaten Eldia, he leads an unstoppable army of Colossal Titans towards Marley. Now a motley crew of his former comrades and enemies scramble to halt his deadly mission, the only question is, can they stop him?"

Steven Universe Creator Rebecca Sugar Would Love to Return for Revival https://comicbook.com/anime/news/steven-universe-revival-rebecca-sugar/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 22:25:00 +0000 Nick Valdez 364976ec-ed92-4617-9360-003b4ac2a4d5

Steven Universe first kicked off its memorable run with Cartoon Network ten long years ago, and the creator behind it all has revealed they would love to return for a revival series someday! Steven Universe first premiere with Cartoon Network on November 4th way back in 2013, and the Rebecca Sugar created series remains one of the most impactful animated series releases of the 2010s overall. Running for five seasons of its own before branching out with a full feature film and Steven Universe Future sequel miniseries, fans are holding out hope that there could be more Steven Universe episodes someday,

Steven Universe creator Rebecca Sugar seems to share that sentiment as they revealed in a recent interview with Variety celebrating Steven Universe's 10th Anniversary (which you can now find streaming on Hulu and Max) that they would "love to return" to the series someday. Urging those who also want the same to make their demands known to the point where it's "impossible to ignore," Sugar hopes fans can make enough noise about a Steven Universe revival so it can get made in the future.

Will Steven Universe Return for a Revival Series?

"I would really, really appreciate it if everyone who would be interested in something like that would make a ton of noise and make it really known -- because I would be thrilled to explore that," Sugar said about a potential revival for Steven Universe. "I think in this current media landscape, if there's a huge amount of public demand, then that is something that becomes impossible to ignore. I love these characters and I love this world, and I would love to return to it. And I hope, if everyone else feels the same as I do, I may have an opportunity to do something like that."

As for what Sugar would do with a Steven Universe revival, the creator explained they have some ideas for what to do next, "I know these characters in this world very well, and there's so many interesting things in store for them and aspects of their personality that they're still grappling with that I'm interested in exploring." But hopes to work with some of the original team to further flesh out the bigger ideas, "It's not an easy answer, because there's so much, and I'm also so grateful to the 'Steven Universe' team, the crew that I worked with for eight years on the show."

"Thanks to them, these characters are so incredibly rich, and this world is so beautifully defined," Sugar continued. "Even just our rules and our lore and the meaning behind why the characters are the way they are is so full that, if I had an opportunity to work with them again, they really take on a life of their own." What would you want to see in a new Steven Universe? Let us know all of your thoughts about it in the comments! J.J. Abrams-Helmed DC Project Scrapped by Max https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/j-j-abrams-constantine-dc-series-scrapped-by-max/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 22:18:00 +0000 Nicole Drum fd40da13-907b-49f5-9824-6b9a91c81a2c

Back in 2021, it was reported that a new live-action Constantine series was in the work for the then-HBO Max (now simply Max) from J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Productions, but now, that project is no more. According to Variety, the Constantine series has officially been scrapped by Max. According to their report, the series had been pretty far along in development with a lead actor in talks to take on the role and four scripts had been written for the contemporary London-set series.

Abrams' Constantine series had been expected to be part of a larger Justice League Dark universe for Max. However, earlier this year, the long-gestating Justice League Dark series was also scrapped, along with another Abrams project, Overlook, a spinoff of The Shining. As for the specific reason why the Constantine series was cancelled, that remains unclear, though most of DC's content now under the leader sup of DC Studios' co-CEOs Peter Safran and James Gunn as well as Constantine 2 moving forward with Keanu Reeves returning to take on the character, both of those factors may have played a significant role.

Constantine Director Recently Offered An Update On The Sequel

Director Francis Lawrence recently offered an update on the long-awaited Constantine sequel, saying that the writers' strike held things up, but the studio has landed the film rights so progress is being made.

"So Constantine 2 got obviously held up by the writers' strike," Lawrence said in a new chat with GameSpot. "And we had to jump through a bunch of hurdles to get control of the character again, because other people had control of the Vertigo stuff. We have control. Keanu and Akiva Goldsman and I have been in meetings and have been hashing out what we think the story is going to be, and there's more meetings of those that have to happen--the script has to be written--but really hoping that we get to do Constantine 2 and make a real rated R version of it."

"One of the biggest things for me about the first one was we followed, per Warner Bros., the rules to make a PG-13 movie in terms of violence, blood, language, sexuality. But the ratings board gave us a hard R based on the gray zone of intensity," Lawrence told Collider last November. "And my big, big regret was that we have an R-rated movie that's really a PG-13 movie. And if I was going to have to go have an R, I would have really made an R-rated movie. I would have made it much scarier and much more violent and I would have really made an R-rated movie."

What do you think about Abrams' Constantine not moving forward? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Fans Mourn Death of Original Trilogy Character https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3-cod-mw3-soap-death/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 22:07:00 +0000 Cade Onder b1295e57-6414-455e-b590-10ffbd154f81

Spoilers for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be featured in this article.

Some Call of Duty fans are mourning the loss of an iconic character from the original trilogy. The Call of Duty series is probably best known for its fast-paced multiplayer, but it also has some really iconic campaigns. Fans will probably best know the stories of the Modern Warfare trilogy and the early Black Ops games, as that's when Call of Duty was really in its golden age. The original Modern Warfare trilogy was the perfect blend of drama and over-the-top action, allowing you to feel consistently engaged by both the story and the gameplay. The trilogy also packed a punch with some major deaths from both good guys and villains.

The new rebooted Modern Warfare series has been a bit reluctant to kill people off. A lot of the characters that "died" have come back in various ways, even Zakhaev's son who was pushed down a missile silo and is now back in the Zombies storyline. However, Modern Warfare 3 appears to permanently kill off some beloved characters from the original series. Ironically, they're characters who also died in the original games, which leaves fans feeling even more heartbroken. The two biggest deaths in Modern Warfare 3 are Soap and General Shepherd. The latter is killed off in a post-credits cutscene by Captain Price, blaming the General for failing to kill Makarov which resulted in Soap's eventual death. However, the one really stinging people is Soap himself. He was properly re-introduced in last year's Modern Warfare 2 and was a fan-favorite thanks to his incredible chemistry with Ghost. This even prompted some to ask for a spin-off with just those two characters.

Sadly, it seems unlikely that will happen. Soap is killed by Makarov at the end of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 after Soap tries to save Price from being executed. Makarov manages to shoot Soap in the head and he is later cremated and given a funeral by Task Force 141. Of course, the character was also killed by Makarov in the original Modern Warfare 3 when he is blown out of a clock tower and is unable to be saved. Some fans argue that his death was handled better in the original game as it had more emotion behind it. The actor who plays Soap, Neil Ellice, also thanked fans for their love during his time in the role.

Taraja Ramsess, Avengers: Endgame and Black Panther Stuntman, Dies at 41 https://comicbook.com/marvel/news/taraja-ramsess-avengers-endgame-black-panther-stuntman-dead-41-car-accident/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 21:55:00 +0000 Jamie Jirak 2f38015d-9ae6-4838-96ed-a598ac60afda

Taraja Ramsess, a stuntman known for his work on Avengers: Endgame and Black Panther, has passed away at age 41. The tragic news broke earlier this week that Ramsess was killed alongside two of his children on Halloween night in a car accident in Atlanta, Georgia. The news was initially reported by local affiliate WSB-TV. Ramsess died along with his 13-year-old daughter, Sundari, and 1-month-old daughter, Fugibo, after their car hit a tractor-trailer that had broken down on the highway. Ramsess' 10-year-old son is also in critical condition while his other 3-year-old child was hospitalized. A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family, which you can view here.

"Akili Ramsess, a dear friend and colleague to so many, lost her eldest son, the beautiful and talented Taraja, and two of her grandchildren - Taraja's 13-year-old daughter Sundari and 8-week-old daughter Fujibo - in a horrific traffic accident on Oct. 31. Her 10-year-old grandson, Kisasi is on life support, continuing to fight. We are not sure what her immediate needs are, but we know there will be many. Anyone who knows Akili knows that her greatest joys are her three boys and 10 grandchildren. Her love and devotion to her family knows no limits," the GoFundMe reads.

"We will continue to update this posting with more information as it becomes available and as Akili and her family are ready to release it. I know you share our feelings that this devastating loss is unfathomable, and we are just trying to take a first step in helping Akili down the very long road ahead. Please give what you can."

Ramsess' filmography also included stunt work on Avengers: Infinity War, Black Lightning, Bad Boys For Life, The Suicide Squad, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Atlanta, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Creed III, and They Cloned Tyrone. He also worked in the art department on various projects with a focus on props and set dressing. His credits included Halloween II (2009), The Vampire Diaries, Fast Five, Teen Wolf, The Walking Dead, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and Furious 7.

Ramsess' friend Tony Tucci spoke to WSB-TV about the accident.

"When I first heard about it, I broke down," Tucci said. "I had to sit down ... He was always a family man. They would come and sit and watch him train, and they would jump in and start training to."

"He was always sharing his experiences, happy and glad to be part of that community," Tucci added. "During the screening of Black Panther, he couldn't stop talking about it. He was so happy to be a part of it."

Our thoughts are with Ramsess' friends and family at this difficult time.

Star Trek: Lower Decks wrapped its fourth season on Thursday with an episode that brought back some familiar characters and pushed the beloved series protagonists serving on the lower decks of the U.S.S. Cerritos into new places. The episode also featured some cinematic action and a grander tone appropriate for a finale and perhaps more. In the past, the biggest Star Trek shows jumped from television to film. Star Trek: The Original Series did it, with Star Trek: The Next Generation doing the same. Now Paramount+ is plotting new straight-to-streaming Star Trek movies, the first being Star Trek: Section 31 with Michelle Yeoh. ComicBook.com asked Star Trek: Lower Decks creator Mike McMahan if he had an idea for what a Star Trek: Lower Decks movie could look like. It turns out that he has multiple ideas spanning animation and live-action, as well as characters beyond those in Lower Decks.

"I have an idea for an animated Lower Decks movie," McMahan tells ComicBook.com. "I have ideas for live-action Lower Decks movies. And I have ideas for brand new, totally original Star Trek movies that don't tie into anything we've seen before. I think Star Trek is an amazing genre to think about. I love the idea of not micro but small-budget Star Trek movies, where you get the bigness of a movie set, but you get to tell a Star Trek story that drives across a moment instead of a thing that has to be dealt with, like a Khan."

He continues, "I think there are cool ways to make Star Trek movies that aren't quite like the Marvel system and aren't quite like DC or the superheroes in general, but I would love a world where there's going to be Star Trek movies all the time, and when you go, you don't know which crew it's going to be about or if it's going to be a comedy or suspense or a drama. I loved Captain America: The Winter Soldier, that it went from the first one [Captain America: The First Avenger] being a period piece superhero movie to being a spy thriller. I think there are ways to make Star Trek movies like that so that when you go, you don't know what you're going to get, you just know that you trust seeing that Starfleet Delta and that you're going to get a cool movie within that genre."

One might think that Paramount+'s first Star Trek movie project being about Section 31, a morally gray spy unit working largely independently of Starfleet's chain of command, is a step in that direction. McMahan would agree.

"Yes, and I am a big fan of Craig [Sweeny, writer] and everybody with Section 31," McMahan says. "I think it's going to be awesome. And I'm Mr. More when it comes to Star Trek. I want to see Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, which sounds awesome. I want to see more Prodigy. I want to see more movies. More, more and more like, let's go."

ComicBook.com also spoke to McMahan more in-depth about the Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 4 finale and what it means for the show's future. Here's what he had to say:

Star Trek: Lower Decks Creator Mike McMahan on the Season 4 finale

ComicBook.com: At what point did Mariner's backstory firm up in your mind? Was this always the plan? Because it feels like an explanation for her attitude towards taking responsibility in Starfleet could have gone several different ways. How did you end up landing here?

Mike McMahan: I knew for a long time that Mariner was affected by her time in the Dominion War. There's a lot of earlier hints about that in the series. I always wanted to tie her to that original "Lower Decks" foursome, because it fits into the timeline. I held back for a really long time partially because part of me doesn't want to tell people why Mariner or any character is behaving the way they are. I just think there's a chance that you're jumping the shark at that, and I also wasn't sure if tying Mariner directly to a character from a previous episode would be too distracting or too specific. And oftentimes, I'm too cautious with stuff like, "When can I bring T'Lyn in?" or "When can I promote them?" And I'm really, really careful.

This is such an important show to me, and this is such an important franchise to me, that I tend to maybe be too careful. Part of it is I want people to love watching Lower Decks. I don't want to make people feel like they don't know what's going on. A lot of the time, with the legacy stuff, I am waiting until I can find a way where if somebody has never seen the stuff I'm referring to, it doesn't matter because they still get it. Locarno is a bad guy from the past, Sito was an old friend, things that if you know it all, you'll know it. If you don't know it all, it's fine, or maybe it'll inspire you to go watch more Star Trek, which is even better.

But this season being about Mariner gets promoted, but Ransom won't let her get demoted -- there's that episode earlier on where he is like, "I know what you're up to. I'm going to support you unconditionally" -- that creates Mariner's story arc this season, that she can't do the pressure release that she usually does. And then when she's in that cave with that Klingon in a fight-to-the-death rain delay and she knows she can talk about stuff that will never get out because Ma'ah will die or she will die, it's kind of a win-win for her. That's the first time she's able to communicate honestly about something because she is in a space, weirdly a Klingon therapeutic space, where she can speak about it. It's so painful. That felt earned to me. That felt like a thing where I'm like, "This feels honest, this feels good," and that's when I let myself do that stuff.

I understand that it's not the same thing as what you're talking about, but it's also a little funny to hear you say you're too careful about things after giving us the "Naked Time" orgy scene a couple of seasons ago. I get it, but it's funny.

Well, it's funny too because it's a two-second thing that makes total sense within the world of the show. And I don't think of Star Trek as being a Puritan thing. I think of Star Trek as being human. It's funny. I wasn't the one who put that kind of stuff into Star Trek. But also at the same time, I want to make a show that makes you laugh. That makes you go, "God, that was fun." Or like, "Oh, I've never seen that before." I'm incredibly careful about canon stuff, and I'm a little less careful about, "Is this going to make you laugh out loud? Will this make you love this? Is this something you haven't seen in Star Trek before?" It doesn't have to be a history book. This is a whole different genre for Star Trek. And I am dancing between all the classic Trek and something totally new for Trek, and it just has to be a funny show on its own.

This finale ends up forming this third chapter of what is now a trilogy of episodes that started with "The First Duty" and then the original "Lower Decks" episode. Now we have this "Locarno trilogy" or whatever fans might want to call it. Was that on your mind, this larger franchise meta-story, or was your focus entirely on your characters?

No, I mean, it's a Nicholas Meyer Wrath of Khan. I was trying to make it very clear that Star Trek does this really well, and it did it once with features after an episode hadn't aired for a really long time. Now this is what Star Trek can do animated. You see that people a lot of the time are like, "Oh, animation is good for Star Trek because you can see more squiggly arms on aliens, or go to more places." But another power of it is it is this kind of magic of doing what Star Trek does best and saying that these one-off characters could, possibly, show up again.

You mentioned that Mariner goes through a lot this season. She comes to terms with a lot of things. I know you are deep into Star Trek: Lower Decks Season Five at this point. I know you probably don't want to say too much, but how different should fans expect her to be going forward now that she's resolved a lot of things?

Mariner hasn't resolved anything, but she's been unburdened by them. I think it's important to say that mental health isn't something you solve, it's something that you take care of and that you are aware of, and that communication and there not being a stigma about it and things that you carry don't necessarily have to be heavy. There is a possibility to diffuse them. Going forward, Mariner is Mariner. Mariner is a funny, loving, chaos-creating, sci-fi badass, who is just a little less burdened by the things that she was carrying before. I find, because I'm done writing season five, the Mariner in Season 5 is the Mariner that I love from Seasons 1 through 4, just happier.

As you said, this episode is very Wrath of Khan, including the ships hiding in the clouds sequence. Considering you had done those "Crisis Point" episodes that lovingly made fun of the Star Trek movies, was there any worry going into this about, "How do we get the audience to take us seriously now after we had so much fun taking the piss out of the Star Trek movies?"

No, because even when we're taking the piss out of the Star Trek movies, it's clear we love it and we're doing a cool movie. A lot of it is the framing and the stakes and the music a lot of the time. Something Lower Decks does well in my opinion is makes you laugh and then immediately pivot to real stakes. That's a skill of ours that is partially the performances, the editing, the music, but I'm never worried we're not going to make a moment land because my directors and everybody, they know the score, they know what we're up to and we can pivot like that.

A lot of this episode is about Mariner, but Boimler also gets his big moment in this episode when he gets to captain for the first time, which is interesting because, in one of the earlier interviews I did with Jack Quaid, I asked him about Boimler potentially becoming Captain. He's said something like, "I know he wants it, but I don't know if he actually wants it." Is this a reaffirmation that maybe he really does want it and will be good at it? What made this the right time and what does it mean for him now?

What spoke to me about that moment was that it ties directly to that Redshirts episode in a previous season where, in this moment, Boimler was trusted by Ransom and the Captain to get this done. And what I think is interesting is, people love that they see him in the chair because they believe in Boimler too. But what being a Captain is about isn't about sitting in a chair in the middle of a bridge during a high-stakes moment. Freeman is being the captain there. Freeman is putting herself in danger, flying through a fireball. Boimler is being trusted and he's in that chair, and it's great. But being a captain is more than just that moment, and moving forward, Boimler's now had a taste of the epic part of being a Captain, but you have to earn being a Captain in a lot of different ways, and the thrill of that does not take him across the finish line yet with where we're going.

I have time for one more question. Since I didn't get a chance to ask you about this towards the beginning of the season. I'm going to roll it back to the premiere to have you weigh in on one of Star Trek's biggest controversies: Did Janeway do Tuvix wrong?

Janeway didn't only do Tuvix right, she also did us right. Although, I don't know if she did him right, but look, listen, she's not in the Alpha Quadrant. She's surviving, and she's doing what she has to with the resources that she has. Now, did Tuvix beg for his life, and she still murdered him? Yeah, that was pretty rough. But you know what, dude? Did anybody, did any of us really want more Tuvix? I was relieved. I did not want to watch another five seasons of Tuvix. I didn't want to lose Tuvok for that. I think people are still allowed to argue about the ethics of Janeway's decision, which is fine. Sometimes things are not black and white. Sometimes you're allowed to do the right thing, but it not be good. Sometimes you can do everything right and still not win. But ultimately, I'm glad we didn't have to watch Tuvix again. What a sigh of relief that he wasn't in the next episode, Tuvixing it up.

That is the 100% correct answer. Thank you.

[Laughs] Of course.

PlayStation Exclusive Will Soon Be Free With Xbox Game Pass https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/xbox-game-pass-playstation-ps4-ps5-exclusive-game/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 21:44:00 +0000 Tyler Fischer 42b5dbf4-4744-4fac-a9fa-c7c7e7aa0260

A PlayStation console exclusive is coming to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S this month, and when it does, it will be available via Xbox Game Pass the moment it goes live. The game in question hails from August 22, 2022 and was notably made available via PS Plus the day it released. So, the fact it's now being included with Xbox Game Pass right at the release of the Xbox Series X version is not that surprising. In addition PS4 and PS5, when the game released it was also available on PC. As for who made it, it was developed by Roll7 and published Private Division. If you haven't connected the dots yet, the game is Rollerdrome, which is coming to Xbox Series X on November 28, priced at $29.99.

When the game was initially released last year, it was released to Metacritic scores of 79 and 81, with said scores varying depending on the version. Meanwhile, how well it built on this decent critical reception with commercial sales, we don't know. We don't have any information about well the game performed on the market, but it likely got a nice bit of change for launching with PS Plus, and now Xbox Game Pass.

"Rollerdrome is a single-player third-person action shooter that seamlessly blends high-octane combat with fluid motion to create an action experience like no other," reads an official blurb about the game. "Dominate with style in cinematic, visceral combat where kills net you health and pulling off tricks and grinds provide you ammunition, in this adrenaline-pumping action shooter."

The game's official description continues: "The year is 2030. In a world where corporations rule and the lines between reality and performance are blurred, the public are kept distracted by the violence and excess of a brutal new blood sport-Rollerdrome. Will you have what it takes to become the Rollerdrome champion and unravel the mysteries behind the Matterhorn corporation's true intentions?"

How long the game is going to be available via Xbox Game Pass, we don't know. This information has not been disclosed. What we do know is that once the game is available via Xbox Game Pass, subscribers will be able to purchase it outright with a 20 percent discount.

The Last of Us Multiplayer Game Director Shares Hopeful New Update https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/the-last-of-us-ps5-multiplayer-game-update/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 21:39:00 +0000 Logan Moore 01c9b4e8-7ce2-4eaa-b35c-b72bf4021983

The director of Naughty Dog's upcoming multiplayer game set within the world of The Last of Us has shared a hopeful new update on the project. In recent months, news tied to Naughty Dog's untitled multiplayer game has been quite grim. Originally planned to have been shown off to the public in 2023, reports in the first half of the year indicated that this new The Last of Us title was in a lot of trouble internally. In short, the game was said to not be coming together in the way that PlayStation hoped it would, which led to the team working on the project at Naughty Dog scaling down drastically. Fortunately, work on the game doesn't seem to have been outright canceled yet, which has been a lingering fear for many fans.

In a new message on social media, Vinit Agarwal, the game director at Naughty Dog on this upcoming The Last of Us multiplayer title, broadly confirmed that it's still in active development. Agarwal didn't say anything extensive about the title and its current status, but he told fans that he's "still working on that game" as part of a footnote in a tweet. At the very least, this now confirms that Naughty Dog hasn't shuttered development completely, which means that it could still see the light of day.

Assuming that this anticipated The Last of Us project does eventually release, the big question at the moment comes with when it would be revealed to the public. Originally, this multiplayer spin-off was meant to arrive as a separate game mode with The Last of Us Part II back in 2020. As the mode's scope grew, though, Naughty Dog opted to make it its own standalone title instead. Now, to hear that Naughty Dog has scaled down its work on the title suggests that the game itself could be shrinking in scale. As such, if The Last of Us Part III ends up releasing in the future as multiple reports have indicated, maybe this individual multiplayer game will just get folded into that entry.

Do you still expect this The Last of Us multiplayer game to one day launch on PlayStation 5? And if so, when do you think that those at Naughty Dog and PlayStation will finally look to show it off? Let me know either down in the comments or hit me up on social media at @MooreMan12.

Jimmy John's Celebrates National Pickle Day With New Chips https://comicbook.com/irl/news/jimmy-johns-national-pickle-day-pickle-chips/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 21:33:00 +0000 Nicole Drum 4a8412dd-3a76-44b7-90a4-9f69e53ce427

While most people think of November as being a big month for food because it's the kickoff of the holiday season and, at least for Americans, is when perhaps the biggest food-oriented holiday -- Thanksgiving -- is celebrated, there's more to the second-to-last month of the year than just turkey and all the fixin's. Thursday also features National Pickle Day, celebrated this year on Tuesday, November 14th. It's the day when fans of all things pickle celebrate by indulging in in the sometimes sweet, but often tart and tangy treat and this year, Jimmy John's is celebrating in a big way themselves. The restaurant, which is known for not just their sandwiches but their tasty dill pickles as well, just added the limited-edition Pickle Jimmy Chips to their menu.

According to Jimmy John's, the new chips were designed specifically for National Pickle Day and feature a balance of salt, sour, and dill notes meant to capture the perfect pickle flavor. The chips come after years of fan request for a pickle-flavored chip option to go along with the brand's famous Jumbo Kosher Dill Jimmy Pickles. The new chips are available now and will be available through November 26th while supplies last. Fans can also head to Jimmy John's Online store for more pickle-fan merch, including a new Jimmy John's Pickle Sweatshirt and more.

"We see our fans profess their love for Jimmy Pickles daily and love to celebrate that excitement with something extra special each year when National Pickle Day comes around," said Jimmy John's Director of Culinary Innovation, Dustin Hilinski. "This year, we wanted to take it up a notch and give guests something they've been asking for, a dill-flavored chip, which led us to develop the new Pickle Jimmy Chips - a combination of two of our fan-favorite items - JJ's pickles and Jimmy Chips - into one satisfyingly salty bite for National Pickle Day."

Pickles Are Having a Major Food Moment

While Jimmy John's is celebrating National Pickle Day with new Pickle Chips, pickles are having a major food trend moment this year overall. Earlier this year, Frank's RedHot introduced Dill Pickle Hot Sauce and last month, Vlasic announced that they'd teamed up with Frank's RedHot for three new hot and spicy Kosher Dill Pickle offerings: Dill Chips, Dill Spears, and Dill Wholes. The pickles are hitting store shelves now.

"The pairing of two iconic brands - Vlasic and Frank's RedHot - is a spicy combo that we know consumers will love," said Lucy Brady, President, Grocery and Snacks, Conagra Brands. "The Vlasic brand is synonymous with great-tasting pickles, and the addition of Frank's RedHot creates a truly bold and flavorful snacking experience."

What do you think? Will you be checking out the new Pickle Jimmy Chips from Jimmy John's for National Pickle Day? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Roars With New TV Spot https://comicbook.com/anime/news/monarch-legacy-of-monsters-new-tv-spot-watch/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 21:09:00 +0000 Evan Valentine 870aa04e-ada9-4aa8-886c-d5c54bb85951

One of the biggest new projects focusing on Legendary Pictures' MonsterVerse won't be making its way to the silver screen but is still aiming to be a giant addition to the cinematic universe. Set to land on Apple TV+ on November 17th, Monarch: Legacy of the Monsters will take place both in the past and the present to follow a unique story focusing on Godzilla and his fellow titans. Now, a new television spot has given kaiju fans a closer look at the next chapter of the MonsterVerse.

The upcoming television series focusing on Legendary's MonsterVerse will star father and son team Kurt and Wyatt Russel, with the family members set to play the same character at two different times in the character's life. While Godzilla will be making an appearance, the television series will be featuring quite a few monsters that were introduced over the course of the cinematic universe's history. While Kong has yet to be confirmed, John Goodman's character from Kong: Skull Island will be making an appearance in the first episode of the television series.

Monarch: The Legacy of Monsters' Roars

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters isn't the only place where the lizard king will be making an appearance this year. Godzilla Minus One is the first Japanese film focusing on the king of the monsters since the release of 2016's Shin Godzilla and will feature the lizard king attacking Japan following World War 2. Touted by many as the best Godzilla movie ever made, the film will arrive in North America on December 1st.

If you want to know more about Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, the show has put out an official blurb, so you can read its synopsis here: "Following the epic battle between Godzilla and the MUTOs that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, two siblings, following in their father's footsteps, uncover their family's connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw, taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga - spanning three generations - reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives."

Which Godzilla project are you most looking forward to seeing? Feel free to let us know in the comments or hit me up directly @EVComedy to talk all things comics, anime, and the world of kaiju.

Fortnite Leak Reveals New Stranger Things Collab https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/fortnite-og-stranger-things-leak/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 20:56:00 +0000 Logan Moore 9dc8786c-5202-4712-8887-b67eaadbf2db

A new leak has shown off an early glimpse of an upcoming collaboration between Fortnite and the Netflix TV series Stranger Things. Back in 2019, an initial crossover between Fortnite and Stranger Things took place which saw character skins for Chief Hopper and the Demogorgon coming to the battle royale shooter. Now, another clash between the two brands seems poised to happen again, although when is not yet known.

Shown off on social media, a few clips of this new Fortnite x Stranger Things crossover have started to emerge. Notably, this new collab will bring Millie Bobby Brown's character, Eleven, as the game's latest character skin. Eleven will be added to Fortnite with three different skins in total. One will resemble her appearance in Season 3, while the other two will be variants of her short-haired look in the Hawkins lab. Additionally, Eleven will have a unique emote and piece of Back Bling to equip as well.

Although Eleven will be the only skin from Stranger Things coming to Fortnite, leaker iFireMonkey has also outlined everything else that should be joining the game. This full crossover will see two different pickaxes coming to the Item Shop with one being for Steve Harrigton's bat, while the other will resemble Eddie Munson's spear. As for the aforementioned Back Bling, one will be a diorama of Hopper's cabin with the other being a waffle.

Currently, Fortnite is in the midst of a massive resurgence thanks to "Fortnite OG," which has seen the game's original map and weapons returning for a limited time. In total, Fortnite OG is expected to be around for the next month and will continue to receive new updates over that time. If this Stranger Things collab comes to fruition while Fortnite OG is live, then we'll be sure to fill you in here on ComicBook.com.

How do you feel about this upcoming Fortnite collab with Stranger Things based on what has been seen so far? And are you planning to buy any of this gear once it does land in the Item Shop? Be sure to let me know either down in the comments or hit me up on social media at @MooreMan12.

Cryptic Marvel Post May Hint at Major Loki Finale Theory https://comicbook.com/marvel/news/cryptic-marvel-post-may-hint-at-major-loki-finale-theory/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 20:53:00 +0000 Jamie Jirak 9c2d0340-f4c6-4592-80d9-cd490106e477

The penultimate episode of Loki's second season, "Science/Fiction," was released this week and it's got Marvel fans talking about some major theories. The episode saw Loki (Tom Hiddleston) travel across different timelines to meet his friends in their true times and places. After he reunited everyone in order to save the TVA, many fans think Loki could become the new "He Who Remains" at the end of time while others believe we are witnessing the original formation of the TVA. In the comics, Loki is currently the God of Stories, which could be a clue to the character's MCU endgame. There have been some interesting hints on social media, including the official account for Thor sharing a clip from Thor: The Dark World. Is Marvel Studios teasing that Loki is about to get his "throne?"

"All this because Loki desires a throne," Odin (Anthony Hopkins) says in the clip. "It is my birthright," Loki shouts back. The post was simply captioned with a clock emoji, which has fans reeling in the comments. You can check out the post below:

What Is Loki Season 2 About?

Marvel Studios fan-favorite Tom Hiddleston stars in Loki Season 2, returning as the titular God of Mischief for another round of time-traveling hijinx on Disney+ on October 6th. Loki is once again joined by Mobius (Owen Wilson) as the two attempt to keep the timelines intact. After the events of Season 1 saw his variant Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) kill He Who Remains and unleash the wrath of Kang the Conqueror upon the Multiverse, Loki must once again embark on an adventure to keep reality from collapsing. Loki was last seen in the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, where he and Mobius were keeping tabs on one of Kang's mysterious variants. Loki Season 2 will continue the story of the Multiverse Saga in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

WWE Crown Jewel Delivers One of Roman Reigns' Shortest Entrances https://comicbook.com/wwe/news/wwe-crown-jewel-roman-reigns-short-entrance/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 20:47:00 +0000 Evan Valentine d74cac09-1c62-4288-984a-c32fa4b9d337

A professional wrestler's entrance is a big deal when it comes to shaping the careers of many superstars who have been a part of the WWE. Major stars like the Undertaker, John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and the Rock all have legendary entrances when it comes to their entrances to the squared circle. In the past, we've seen Roman Reigns take his time when it comes to making his way to the squared circle but in a twist of fate, the current Universal Champion wasted no time in hitting Crown Jewel.

Ultimately, Reigns was able to defeat LA Knight to retain his title, continuing his reign as the Universal Champion. While Roman was able to deliver some brutal moves to Knight during their one-on-one which acted as the main event of the latest pay-per-view event. While the latest entrance wasn't a "blink and you'll miss it affair", it did run a tad shorter than many of Reigns' other arrivals. Roman Reigns' entrance this time around ran for three minutes and fifty-nine seconds, with the Tribal Chief once again accompanied by Paul Heyman to reinforce his status as the one to be in World Wrestling Entertainment's roster.

Roman Reigns Quickly Enters The Ring

If you didn't have the chance to see Roman Reigns' entrance to the ring during this year's Crown Jewel, you can watch it by clicking here. Despite Roman's speedier-than-usual entrance, the match between Reigns and LA Knight lasted for quite some time as the two struggled for supremacy. Unfortunately for Knight, he won't be leaving Saudi Arabia with the Universal Championship this time around.

Prior to their match at this year's Crown Jewel, no love was lost between the two opponents. During this week's Smackdown, Roman Reigns even went so far as to call LA Knight a "redneck version of his cousin", aka the Rock. Roman then shared the following, "A lot's changed around here. I take my time to leave and I expect people to step up, but I didn't think it was ever going to be you. But you did something to catch the attention of these people. You managed your time wisely and got all these people on your side. I give you credit for that. It's not easy in this day and age...go ahead and chant his name."

WWE Crown Jewel: Roman Reigns Overcomes LA Knight and Retains Undisputed Universal Title https://comicbook.com/wwe/news/wwe-crown-jewel-roman-reigns-overcomes-la-knight-and-retains-undisputed-universal-title/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 20:47:00 +0000 Matthew Aguilar 3dfa41f0-4a25-4b19-95de-d228fabe8931

The time had finally arrived for the main event of WWE Crown Jewel, and it was for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns came back from some time away and was greeted by the surging star LA Knight, who had become one of WWE's biggest fan favorites since he was last regularly on SmackDown. The two have been going back and forth the past week weeks, and Knight seemed to get under Reigns' skin a bit last week. That led to tonight's Title match, and Knight was more than ready for the challenge. Knight took everything Roman had and even kicked out of a spear, but Reigns is the Champ for a reason, and he was able to weather the early storm of Knight. Then Knight was robbed of a win by Jimmy Uso, who put Roman's foot on the bottom rope during a pin. Knight got revenge on Jimmy, but Reigns took advantage and ultimately pinned Knight for the win. Reigns is still your Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

Knight came out swinging, punching Reigns, but then Knight ran into a back elbow from the Champ. Reigns mocked Knight a bit before stomping on him, and then the crowd went into overdrive cheering Knight. Reigns got his neck pulled over the ropes and then he knocked the Champ down and went for the cover, but Reigns kicked out. Knight then caught Reigns and slammed him down, but Paul Heyman tried to get at the referee and distract him a bit so Reigns could roll out and catch his breath.

Knight then ran at Reigns and drop-kicked him through the ropes before hitting him with an elbow. Then Knight dove off the apron and clotheslined the Champ. Reigns punched Knight in the back and then tried to follow up by slamming him into the announce table, but Knight caught it and slammed Reigns into it instead. Unfortunately, Reigns slammed Knight into the steel steps next, stopping the challenger in his tracks.

Reigns slammed Knight into the steel steps again before getting into the ring, and the count started. Knight got back in the ring in time, and then Reigns threw Knight into the corner turnbuckle before shushing the crowd. Reigns kept talking with the crowd and then turned his attention to Knight again, slamming him down and going for a cover, but Knight kicked out. Reigns held Knight down and then knocked Knight down again with a clothesline into a pin attempt, but Knight kicked out again.

Reigns hit another clothesline in the corner, and then the crowd started chanting against Reigns. Reigns charged at Knight and collided with him in the corner, and Knight tried to get some space as Reigns kept exchanging comments with the crowd. Knight caught a charging Reigns with a back elbow, and then Knight caught Reigns with kicks to the face before hitting a DDT and knocking the Champion to the mat. Knight couldn't capitalize right away, and both superstars made it to their feet and exchanged strikes. Knight hit several strikes and then hit a crossbody on Reigns. Knight hit a Russian Leg Sweep and then hit a DDT before going for the cover, but Reigns kicked out.

Knight stayed on Reigns, stomping on him in the corner with the whole crowd saying "Yeah". Knight then hit a running knee strike on the Champ and went for a clothesline but Reigns hit a Rock Bottom into a pin attempt. Knight was able to kick out, and Reigns took a minute to taunt the crowd before going for a Superman Punch. Knight picked him up and then dropped him on his back, but then Reigns hit a Superman Punch and went for the cover, only to see Knight kick out once more. Reigns set up for the Spear, but Knight leaped over Reigns and Reigns hit the ring post. Knight stayed on Reigns, hitting some strikes and getting the Champ on the top rope for a Superplex. Reigns blocked it and knocked Knight down, but Knight jumped right back up and hit the Superplex.

Knight went for the elbow and got it, pinning Reigns, but Reigns kicked out at the very last second. Then Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso intervened, as Sikoa drew everyone to the top of the ramp while Jimmy pulled Reigns out of the ring. Knight then grabbed Jimmy, but Reigns hit Knight with a Superman Punch. Reigns went for a spear and got it on Knight, covering him, but Knight somehow kicked out. Reigns kept the pressure on Knight, trying to choke him out, but Knight got to his feet again. Knight then pinned Reigns but Jimmy put Reigns' foot on the bottom rope at the very last minute.

Reigns and Knight locked up on the outside, and Knight tried to deal with Jimmy once there too, slamming Jimmy into the announce table and shattering it. Reigns hit a spear and ran Knight through the barricade, and then once back in the ring, another spear sealed the win, allowing Reigns to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

WWE Crown Jewel Card:

  • Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (C) def. LA Knight
  • Women's World Championship Match: Rhea Ripley (C) def. Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler, Raquel Rodriguez, and Zoey Stark

Spy x Family Season 2 Kickstarts New Arc With Special Poster https://comicbook.com/anime/news/spy-x-family-season-2-cruise-adventure-arc-episode-30-anime-poster/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 20:28:00 +0000 Nick Valdez 1c77892d-58bd-4239-b82b-07bdd901c1a3

Spy x Family Season 2 has officially kickstarted the big new arc for the new episodes, and the anime is celebrating with a special new poster released for Episode 30 of the series! The first few episodes of Spy x Family Season 2 have been spent on more daily life missions that fans saw in the first season of the anime, but the biggest tease for the new episodes had been its adaptation of the Cruise Adventure arc of Tatsuya Endo's original manga series. It's an arc fans have wanted to see in motion for a while, and it's finally starting in the latest episode.

Spy x Family Season 2 Episode 30 sets the stage for the Cruise Adventure arc as all three members of the Forger Family end up on a luxury cruise while Yor Forger has been assigned to protect an important client as part of her secret assassin work. The first episode of this new arc teased just how big of a target this person really is, so we're about to see much more of Yor in deadly action soon enough. Check out the poster for Spy x Family Season 2 Episode 30 below.

How to Watch Spy x Family Season 2 Episode 5

Spy x Family Season 2 Episode 30 is titled "Plan to Cross the Border" and you can find it (along with the rest of Season 2's episodes so far) now streaming on Crunchyroll and Hulu. They tease the new episode as such, "On a mission as Thorn Princess and using her job as city hall as a cover, Yor is tasked with protecting the only survivors of the Gretcher family, Olka and her son, and helping them escape to a different country by traveling on a cruise ship."

If you have never seen it in action before, Spy x Family anime as a whole is teased as such, "World peace is at stake and secret agent (aka Loid Forger) must undergo his most difficult mission yet--pretend to be a family man. Posing as a loving husband and father, he'll infiltrate an elite school to get close to a high-profile politician. He has the perfect cover, except his wife's a deadly assassin and neither knows each other's identity. But someone does, his adopted daughter who's a telepath."

ComicBook Nation Guest-host Logan Moore had the following to say in his Invincible Season 2 Part 1 review:

The first four episodes of Invincible Season 2 feel like they barely scratch the surface of where this series is heading. In fact, the long wait between Episode 4 and 5 is likely the biggest problem that I have with Season 2 so far, as I would have preferred to see all of these episodes release in one go. Despite this, Invincible continues to be one of the best and most unique superhero shows around and almost certainly won't disappoint those who have been counting down the days until its return.

Bloodborne Movie Reportedly in the Works at Sony https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/bloodborne-sony-playstation-movie/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 20:08:00 +0000 Tyler Fischer 85c84597-a49f-4a83-8f9c-fdc4438229d0

According to a new report, a Bloodborne movie is in the works at Sony Pictures via producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and writer Darren Lemke. There is currently no mention of a director on the project, which may suggest Sony has not found its director yet. As for the two names attached, writer Darren Lemke's story and writing credits include Shazam!, Gemini Man, The Wheel of Time, Goosebumps, Shrek Forever After, Jack the Giant Slayer, The Parts You Lose, and Turbo. Meanwhile, Lorzeno Di Bonaventura has served as a producer since 2005. His work includes many Transformer and G.I. Joe movies, as well as video game movies such as DOOM and Dead Rising.

As for the report itself, it comes the way of industry insider Daniel Richtman, a source that has proven both reliable and been off the mark in the past. To supplement his claim, Richtman provides a supposed logline for the movie which, unfortunately, is very generic. In other words, it doesn't add any salient details.

"Sony project based on the PlayStation game of the same name," reads the leaked document. "Bloodborne follows the player's character, a Hunter, through the decrepit Gothic, Victorian-era-inspired city of Yharnam, whose inhabitants are afflicted with a blood-borne disease which transforms the residents, called Yharnamites, into horrific beasts. Attempting to find the source of the plague, the player's character unravels the city's mysteries while fighting beasts and cosmic beings."

Is any of this true? There's no way of knowing. Considering PlayStation has done absolutely nothing with Bloodborne since its release in 2015, despite substantial demand, it's hard to imagine it would out of nowhere appear with a movie adaptation, but the source in question is generally pretty reliable. Whatever the case, so far it's not drawn any comment from Sony. We don't expect this to change for a handful of reasons, but if it does, we will be sure to update the story accordingly. In the meantime, be sure to take this information with a grain of salt. Even if it is accurate, it's subject to change that may eventually render it inaccurate.

American Sports Story: Patrick Schwarzenegger Starring as Tim Tebow, Josh Andrés Rivera as Aaron Hernandez https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/american-sports-story-patrick-schwarzenegger-starring-as-tim-tebow-josh-andres-rivera-as-aaron-hernandez/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 20:03:00 +0000 Jamie Jirak 57d29965-910f-4d79-8eb7-7c5a752e2e4d

There have been an array of anthology series from FX and producer Ryan Murphy ranging from American Horror Story to American Crime Story, and the next installment will be American Sports Story. It was revealed at the beginning of the year that the first installment would focus on former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez. This week, Variety shared casting news about the project which confirms The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes' Josh Andr?s Rivera will play Aaron Hernandez while Gen V's Patrick Schwarzenegger will play Tim Tebow.

American Sports Story will be another scripted anthological limited series, this time putting a focus on a person or event known for sports. The first season of the series is based on the podcast Gladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc. from the Boston Globe and Wondery. You can the description of the season here: "It will examine the 'rise and fall' of Hernandez, including looking into his identity, his family, his career, his death, and his legacy. Hernandez was a tight end for the New England Patriots of the NFL before he was convicted for murder. He ultimately took his own life in prison in 2017."

According to the report, production on American Sports Story had already begun earlier this year but was put on hold due to the SAG strike. Rivera and Schwarzenegger were both cast prior to the strike, but FX hadn't announced their roles until now. The 20th Television series will be executive produced and written by Stu Zicherman with Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Nina Jacobson, and Brad Simpson also executive producing alongside Martin Woodall, Wondery's Hernan Lopez, Marshall Lewy of Wondery, and The Boston Globe's Linda Pizutti Henry and Ira Napoliello.

When Will American Horror Story: Delicate Return?

American Horror Story: Delicate Part One came to an end in October, but there is no premiere date for Part Two. However, the second half of the season is expected to arrive sometime in 2024. Production on the series was halted earlier this year due to the SAG strike and still needs to be completed.

Based on Danielle Valentine's novel Delicate Condition, in American Horror Story: Delicate "after multiple failed attempts at IVF, actress Anna Victoria Alcott wants nothing more than to start a family. As the buzz around her recent film grows, she fears that something may be targeting her -- and her pursuit of motherhood." The season stars Emma Roberts, Cara Delevingne, Kim Kardashian, Denis O'Hare, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, Julie White, Michaela Jae Rodriguez, Matt Czuchry, Odessa A'zion, and Zachary Quinto.

WWE Crown Jewel: IYO SKY Retains Women's Title with Help From Returning Kairi Sane https://comicbook.com/wwe/news/wwe-crown-jewel-iyo-sky-retains-womens-title-with-help-from-returning-kairi-sane/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 19:54:00 +0000 Matthew Aguilar b7642c93-67c4-454a-b9b9-42e900d5fe3d

The WWE Women's Championship was on the line at Crown Jewel, as IYO SKY was set to defend her Title from Bianca Belair in Belair's long-awaited Title rematch. Belair was more than ready, hitting the gas right from the start and keeping the Champion from establishing any momentum. SKY was able to get going eventually, but the two superstars prepared for each other quite well, and they were able to anticipate one another's bigger moves. Bayley would then get involved, but Belair was able to keep her from giving SKY the win. Then a mysterious hooded individual jumped in and attacked Belair, and that turned out to be Kairi Sane making her anticipated WWE return. Sane attacked Belair and was able to set her up for a finishing move from SKY, allowing her to retain her Title. Bayley looked awfully worried too, as Sane and Bayley have some history.

Belair took control right from the jump, slamming SKY down twice and then shoving the Champ out of the ring. Belair then countered a move and slammed SKY into the ring apron and rolled her back into the ring. Belair grabbed SKY's hair and then hit a vertical suplex on the Champ before hitting a standing moonsault, but SKY kicked out of the cover.

Belair slammed SKY's face into the turnbuckle and then connected with multiple strikes in the corner. SKY grabbed the braid but Belair kicked her away and then hit a dropkick. Belair missed her next move though and ran her shoulder into the ring post, and SKY went at Belair's formerly hurt knee and did some damage. SKY pounced and went right after the knee again, and she continued to target the leg and knee, trying to take away Belair's athleticism.

Belair wouldn't stay down, but her leg did seem to be shaky at one point. SKY stomped on Belair and knocked the wind out of her before going for a pin, but Belair kicked out. SKY then locked up the leg in a submission, and Belair tried to punch the Champ to break the hold. Belair broke the hold and then Belair dodged a dropkick from the top rope, causing SKY to hit the mat.

Blair then went on a roll, slamming the Champion multiple times and then slamming SKY onto her knee before going for the pin. SKY kicked out, and then the Champ caught Belair when she was going to the top rope. SKY then hit a huge dropkick on the challenger and locked up Belair in a submission targeting the knee once again. Belair got to her feet and then threw SKY up in the air and slammed her face first on the mat, but it wasn't enough for the pin.

Belair got on a roll and she was able to catch SKY once again, slamming SKY to the mat for another pin attempt, but SKY got her shoulder up in time. SKY tried to pull Belair's braid but Belair was able to pull SKY into the turnbuckle. Bayley then got involved and distracted Belair a bit, setting SKY up for the cover, but SKY kicked out. Belair reversed a move and went for the KOD, but SKY got away and pulled Belair's neck on top of the ropes. SKY wrapped Belair's braid around the top rope and hit her with a number of knee strikes, causing the challenger to fall to the floor.

SKY went up top and set up for the moonsault. She hit the move and both slammed to the floor. SKY went for a move but was caught by Belair, who slammed her with a spine buster, but SKY kicked out of the pin attempt. SKY dodged Belair's next move and then pulled Belair into the second rope as she escaped again. Belair caught SKY again and she slammed the Champion down on the mat into a pin, but Bayley then got up on the ring apron and distracted the referee, causing no one to see the pin. Belair threw SKY out of the ring and then attacked Bayley, and then Belair dodged a charging SKY, causing SKY to slam into Bayley.

SKY was stunned and Belair slammed SKY into the barricade. As Belair was rolling SKY into the ring Bayley grabbed Belair's ankle and kept her from getting into the ring. Belair got rid of Bayley, but then a mysterious hooded figure came out and attacked Belair. The person turned out to be none other than a returning Kairi Sane, who attacked Belair again and kept her down on the floor. Sane hit from the referee who started the count out, but Belair was able to roll in at the last minute. SKY then hit the moonsault on Belair and got the pin, retaining her Title.

SKY was shocked to see Sane, and then Sky dragged Belair to the middle of the ring and that set up Sane to hit the elbow drop on Belair. Then SKY and Sane hugged and celebrated, and Bayley looked shocked and worried, as Sane's had issues with Bayley during her last run in WWE.

WWE Crown Jewel Card:

  • Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (C) vs LA Knight
  • Women's World Championship Match: Rhea Ripley (C) def. Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler, Raquel Rodriguez, and Zoey Stark
  • World Heavyweight Championship Match: Seth Rollins (C) def. Drew McIntyre

Who Dies in Attack on Titan's Anime Finale? https://comicbook.com/anime/news/attack-on-titan-anime-finale-who-dies/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 19:41:00 +0000 Megan Peters 023572f3-1a41-4a65-9acf-8ddee0c1fecb

Attack on Titan has been with anime fans for more than 10 years at this point, but we know all things must end. Today marks that milestone for the hit anime as Attack on Titan has released its big finale. After a long wait, Eren Yeager has brought his intense journey to an end with a truly spectacular episode by MAPPA Studios. And in true fashion, the final episode of Attack on Titan does feature some massive deaths.

So you have been warned! There are major spoilers below for Attack on Titan. Read on with extreme caution!

If you did not know, the finale of Attack on Titan went live in Japan this morning, and social media was flooded with a deluge of tears. After all, it is hard to say goodbye to a show as good as Attack on Titan, and that does not even factor in its deaths. After all, the big finale features a few main kills, and they hit fans where it hurts.

The first unavoidable death comes at the hands of innocents. It is said that war always hurts the ordinary most, and that is definitely the case. In the final installment of Attack on Titan's anime, dozens more civilians are killed. The Rumbling shows no mercy to those in its paths, and while this latest episode had fewer civilian deaths than the finale's first half, a good few citizens were killed in Attack on Titan today.

When it comes to main character deaths, well - it looks dicey for all our heroes at one point. In the end though, only two lead characters lost their lives: Zeke and Eren. The two brothers were killed in their final stand, and the two went out in emotional scenes.

As for Zeke, Levi made good on his promise to kill the Beast Titan inheritor. The older Yeager brother was killed after an intense battle involving Levi, but it was humanity's strongest soldier who won. Now when it comes to Eren, his death came at the hands of Mikasa. The heroine was able to break through the Founding Titan's defenses to find Eren and his true body. After a brief moment, Mikasa found the strength to slice off Eren's head to stop his war. And not long after, Mikasa is able to share her first kiss with Eren's decapitated head.

From top to bottom, the final battle of Attack on Titan was intense, and its deaths have left many stunned. For years, it seemed as if Eren would make it out of the series alive, but his decision to become humanity's worst enemy sealed his awful fate. Eren knew exactly what he was doing by making himself a martyr, and the deaths of thousands weighs on his soul. His choice paved the path which forced Mikaka to kill her longtime friend and love. But through Eren's death, Attack on Titan sets up a future where Eldians can be seen as heroes rather than monsters.

What do you think about the end of Attack on Titan's anime? Let us know what you think in the comments below as well as on Twitter and Instagram. You can also hit me up @MeganPetersCB to share your take!

WWE Confirms War Games Return at Survivor Series https://comicbook.com/wwe/news/wwe-confirms-war-games-return-at-survivor-series/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 19:26:00 +0000 Matthew Aguilar f7f870ed-e789-4afa-a3f9-84212bfef664

After Crown Jewel, WWE will shift its focus to Survivor Series, which is set to take place in Chicago on November 25th. There are several bigger questions going into the event, but one of the questions had to do with War Games. War Games was a part of last year's event, but WWE had been silent on whether it would return. During Crown Jewel WWE revealed a new ad for the event, and that's when the War Games logo was shown for the first time. Now the fun part begins, as WWE will start setting up the teams on Monday Night Raw and SmackDown. It is also expected that there will be a Men's and Women's War Games match on the card like last year, but hopefully, more details will be revealed on next week's shows.

Last year's Survivor Series was the first time a War Games match had been on the main roster card, as before that it was featured on NXT TakeOvers. The debut outing was good for both matches, and due to the team format, having factions like Judgement Day and The Bloodline makes sense since they have so many enemies. It's also a chance for other stars to shine in a team setting, and there are plenty who could benefit from that spotlight.

War Games is a fan favorite for a variety of reasons, but the mayhem caused by two rings is a big part, as is the slow rollout of teams and the variety of weapons that get used in the match. That is likely to continue in this year's version, and with more of the roster comfortable with the format now, this year's event could end up being even better.

One of the other questions surrounding the event is a certain Chicago favorite CM Punk. Punk and AEW ended their relationship after All In. There's been rumors that Punk is heading to WWE, and that he might debut at Survivor Series. Those rumors have been pushed back on in other reports, and when Punk was asked about them, he addressed them vaguely, saying, "They're asking if I'm going to be there? I think it's sold out. "I don't want to burst anybody's bubble. I'm kind of just sitting at home and enjoying this beautiful Chicago weather," Punk said. "I have an injury in the family. My dog [Larry] blew his dog ACL. WWE Crown Jewel: Logan Paul is Now a WWE Champion https://comicbook.com/wwe/news/wwe-crown-jewel-logan-paul-rey-mysterio-us-championship/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 19:21:00 +0000 Evan Valentine cd53f8a2-6476-4670-809c-7438a8f0a5f6

WWE Crown Jewel has had some big matches of the night, and the battle for the US Title was one of its flashiest. With Logan Paul entering the ring in an eye-popping automobile, Rey Mysterio entered the ring wearing the United States Title around his belt to defend the championship. Logan Paul certainly lived up to his status as a "heel" during this latest fight but was able to walk away with the belt and become the new champion via a victory against the elder Mysterio.

Receiving some out-of-the-ring assistance after a long and bitter brawl, Paul got his hands on a pair of brass knuckles that he was able to use to claim victory against Mysterio. Despite Rey delivering his finishing move on Logan Paul, the YouTube star was able to keep the brass knuckles out of the ref's eyesight, netting him a three count and the United States Championship as a result.

Logan Paul: United States Champion

On his podcast, Impaulsive, earlier this week, Logan Paul shared the following statement when it came to his match against Mysterio, "I'm going for you bro, you're looking at the future US Champ right here. Unfortunately, I have to take it from Rey Mysterio, the legend, I have to punch him in the face a few times," Paul said. "It sucks. I love Rey Mysterio as a wrestler, and this is what I've been saying, I respect Rey, how can you not? He is one of the greatest, surely the greatest luchador of all time, he just has something I need."

Paul also discussed his love of being a part of World Wrestling Entertainment, "I got the bug. I'm doing these things and this comes so much more natural to me than boxing. People tell me I belong here, I actually feel like I belong. I have the opportunity to go after these champions and win these belts, I don't know how many humans get this opportunity, I might have to take this. It's nice when you have something that people are kind of forced to respect you for."

What did you think of Paul and Mysterio's Crown Jewel brawl? How do you feel about Logan Paul as the United States Champion? Feel free to let us know in the comments or hit me up directly @EVComedy to talk all things comics, anime, and the world of professional wrestling.

One of Loki's New Characters Is Based on a Real Person https://comicbook.com/marvel/news/marvel-loki-season-2-casey-easter-egg-frank-morris-mcu/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 19:08:00 +0000 Nicole Drum 8465837e-c9af-4d93-a97f-03c0b58b1430

The first season of Loki included a somewhat heartbreaking revelation about the TVA. All of the agency's employees are themselves variants, each with no memory of the real identities and lives they lived on the timeline. It's a revelation that meant that each of the people that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) had grown close to all had their own unexplored stories and this week's Season 2 episode of Loki, Episode 5 "Science/Fiction", offered a glimpse into those lives thanks to the collapse of the Temporal Loom and as it turns out, the true identity of one of Loki's friends is actually based on a real person -- and one of American history's more interesting mysteries.

Warning: spoilers for the fifth episode of Loki's second season beyond this point.

After the Temporal Loom's explosion, Loki finds himself timeslipping again and one of the first places he timeslips to is a branched timeline at Alcatraz in 1962 San Francisco where he finds Casey (Eugene Cordero). It turns out that in his real life, Casey's real identity was that of Frank who is orchestrating a prison break with two other men. They begin their escape by boat, but Loki timeslips away.

Frank is based on the real-life Frank Morris who had been sent to Alcatraz in 1960 for burglary and larceny and the two men with him are brothers John and Clarence Anglin (played by Loki directors Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson). In real life, the trio carried out an escape just as what was portrayed in the episode. The real story has become something of legend with the three men building fake heads using sheets, soap, paint, and even human hair and using them to trick the guards into believing that they were still in bed. The Anglins used spoons and a drill that they build from a vacuum cleaner and, along with another man named Allen West slowly cut their way through the concrete walls of their cells under the cover of Morris's evening accordion practice which hit the noise. Eventually, on June 11/12, 1962, Morris and the Anglins made a break for it -- West couldn't get out of his cell in time to join them. The trio set off in a boat made from raincoats and a resin that they learned to make from articles from the prison library.

While the trio's escape was pretty ingenious, it's also one of modern American history's more unusual unanswered questions. While the men appear to have made it off of the island, there is also no actual evidence the made it to the shore. The raft was later found with some of their personal effects in a plastic bag and there are plenty of theories about what actually happened to them, but many believe they didn't make it to shore and drowned. The FBI officially declared them dead in 1979.

Interestingly, this isn't the first time that Loki has taken on one of American history's more fascinating crime mysteries. The Season 1 premiere of Loki revealed that the loveable trickster is actually D.B. Cooper, the notorious perpetrator of the 1971 plane hijacking that remains unsolved to this day. If course, in Loki's case, he didn't have a forgotten life as a hijacker; Loki only carried out the infamous crime because he lost a bet with his brother Thor.

Attack on Titan Anime Finale Includes Post-Credits Scene https://comicbook.com/anime/news/attack-on-titan-anime-finale-post-credits/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 19:04:00 +0000 Evan Valentine fbb744db-392b-4d1f-9463-5bf81ed41ada

Attack on Titan's final episode has aired in Japan. This means that spoilers are running wild on social media for the final battle featuring Eren Jaeger and the Scout Regiment. Running for around ninety minutes, the last installment doesn't just feature some of the most brutal and shocking moments of the series to date, but also has a post-credits scene that might throw many fans for a loop. If you're watching the finale later tonight on November 4th, be forewarned that you will definitely want to see what happens after the credits roll.

Warning. We're about to dive into some massive spoilers for Attack on Titan's series finale, so if you want to go in fresh, you might want to avoid this article. Eren Jaeger has been killed, as the Scout Regiment was able to defeat the current Founding Titan. Luckily, the fight didn't cost any of the soldiers their lives as they were able to score a victory without bloodshed on their side of the aisle. On top of the youngest Jaeger biting the bullet as a result of Mikasa's sword, Zeke Jaeger the Beast Titan died as well thanks to Levi delivering some much-needed revenge when it came to the eldest of the Jaeger brothers.

Attack on Titan's Post Credits Scene is Here

The Attack on Titan Post-Credits scene of its final episode shows the world of the Scout far into the future, long after their battle with Eren. The mid-credits scene gives anime viewers a look at Mikasa's funeral, as the soldier had lived a long life and had passed of old age. Seeing a young explorer coming upon the same tree that gave Ymir her Titan powers so many years ago, it would seem that the cycle is set to continue.

While this post-credits scene does leave the door open to a potential sequel, creator Hajime Isayama hasn't shared any plans of continuing the story of Attack on Titan. In fact, the manga artist has been quite adamant that he won't be creating a sequel series any time soon. While a new short story will be released next year as a part of an Attack on Titan art book, the details of it remain a mystery.

What do you think of the post-credits scene? Are you sad to say goodbye to the Scout Regiment? Feel free to let us know in the comments or hit me up directly @EVComedy to talk all things comics, anime, and the world of the Titans.

Some PlayStation Plus Subscribers Are Not Getting November's Best Free Game https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/playstation-ps-plus-november-free-game-mafia/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 19:00:00 +0000 Tyler Fischer 43afd50e-c692-4754-8812-e4184fb8eaae

Some PlayStation Plus subscribers are not getting one of November's free games, and it happens to be the best free game being offered next month. This coming Tuesday, all PS Plus subscribers -- whether they are subscribed to PS Plus Essential, PS Plus Extra, or PS Plus Premium -- will be able to download the following games: Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Mafia II: Definitive Edition, and Dragon Ball: The Breakers. Unfortunately, everyone is not literally everyone in this case though. Some subscribers won't be able to download all three of these games. Some will only be able to download two of these games, plus a random replacement that's been offered via the subscription service in the past.

No matter which camp you fall in, November's offering is fairly disappointing. Aliens: Fireteam Elite and Dragon Ball: The Breakers are both write offs. However, Mafia II: Definitive Edition is a solid game, and a great trip down memory lane if you played the original back in 2010. Unfortunately, if you're in the Middle East, you will not be getting this game, presumably due to content rating issues. Rather, you will be getting Tropico 5, which is a major downgrade, and a game that's been offered in the past so it's a repeat.

If you're in the Middle East and not familiar with Tropico 5, it came out in 2014 and isn't even the latest installment in the series. Developed by Haemimont games and published by Kalyspo Media Digital, it's a construction sim meets management sim that released to various Metacritic scores in the 70s, with the scores varying platfom to platform.

"Return to the remote island nation of Tropico in the next installment of the critically acclaimed and hugely popular 'dictator sim' series," reads an official blurb about the game. "Expand your Dynasty's reign from the early colonial period to beyond the 21st Century, facing an all-new set of challenges, including advanced trading mechanics, technology and scientific research, exploration and for the first time in Tropico history - cooperative and competitive multiplayer for up to 4 players."

At the moment, PlayStation has not said anything about the switch in any capacity. We don't expect this to change at this point, but if it does, we will be sure to update the story accordingly.

James Wan Teases M3GAN 2.0, "(She's) Coming Back in a Big Way" https://comicbook.com/horror/news/james-wan-teases-m3gan-2-0-shes-coming-back-in-a-big-way/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 18:56:00 +0000 Jamie Jirak 822cdd24-973b-4b37-be43-edf1427e8fe5

2023 has been a big year for horror, and one of the first hits of the year was M3GAN, the story of an AI doll who goes rogue. The movie earned a 93% critics score and a 78% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and a sequel was teased soon after the film was released. James Wan, who has a story credit on the film in addition to producing the project, recently spoke with Empire Magazine and teased the return of M3GAN in M3GAN 2.0.

"It's early yet, but M3GAN is coming back in a big way," Wan shared. "The first film came just at the right time [when concerns about AI were mounting], and we're definitely leaning into that on the next one. We're exploring the AI universe even further."

At the beginning of the year, it was revealed that Blumhouse w beould merging with James Wan's Atomic Monster, and an article from The New York Times teased the future of M3GAN.

"It was actually Mr. Wan who got the ball rolling on M3GAN," the article revealed. "Atomic Monster first pitched the idea to Warner Bros. executives, who passed, in part because Warner already has the Annabelle evil doll series. Mr. Wan then brought the project to Mr. [Jason] Blum, who pounced. Universal is so pleased with how M3GAN turned out that it is already talking about a M3GAN sequel. TikTok posts tagged #M3GAN have been viewed 300 million times since the trailer was released a month ago."

What Is M3GAN About?

You can read the official synopsis for M3GAN here: "M3GAN is a marvel of artificial intelligence, a life-like doll programmed to be a child's greatest companion and a parent's greatest ally. Designed by brilliant toy-company roboticist Gemma (Get Out's Allison Williams), M3GAN can listen and watch and learn as she becomes friend and teacher, playmate and protector, for the child she is bonded to. When Gemma suddenly becomes the caretaker of her orphaned 8-year-old niece, Cady (Violet McGraw, The Haunting of Hill House), Gemma's unsure and unprepared to be a parent. Under intense pressure at work, Gemma decides to pair her M3GAN prototype with Cady in an attempt to resolve both problems -- a decision that will have unimaginable consequences."

Stay tuned for more updates about the M3GAN sequel. In the meantime, the first film is currently available to watch on Amazon's Prime Video.

WWE Crown Jewel: Did Solo Sikoa Just Retire John Cena? https://comicbook.com/wwe/news/wwe-crown-jewel-did-solo-sikoa-just-retire-john-cena/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 18:54:00 +0000 Matthew Aguilar e47e7aa8-80e9-492f-82f9-536f4c7d77a0

John Cena had an unfortunate streak he wanted to end at WWE Crown Jewel, as Cena hasn't won a singles match on TV since 2018. He would have the chance to break that streak at Crown Jewel, but standing in his way was The Bloodline's enforcer Solo Sikoa, and Sikoa had orders from Roman Reigns to take Cena out. Sikoa was in control for a while, but Cena would have big runs of offense that put Sikoa's win in peril. Unfortunately, the tables turned after a Samoan Spike to Cena, as after that Sikoa would continue to hit Cena with several more Samoan Spikes, and at one point he delivered multiple Spikes in a row. While Cena was able to get to his feet for the first few, after the barrage he was done, and Sikoa got the win. There was an aura around the match ending that wasn't expected, and WWE stayed with Cena for a bit after the loss as he got up and was cheered on by the crowd. While Cena could return, there's a chance that we just saw Sikoa retire Cena, and I don't think anyone expected that before the event.

Early on it was apparent that Sikoa wasn't going to go for pitfalls, as he wanted to punish Cena and make a point for the Tribal Chief. Sikoa taunted the crowd as he dished out more damage, and when Cena would try and get some momentum, the Bloodline enforcer would cut off the comeback before it started.

Sikoa did eventually go for a pin, but Cena kicked out, so Sikoa dished out more damage in the corner. Cena finally got going though with a submission, and though Sikoa eventually broke free and hit a clothesline, the move worked in putting Sikoa on his heels for a bit. Sikoa dove and knocked Cena from the turnbuckle, and then hit a belly-to-belly before going for a pin, but Cena was able to kick out and keep the match going.

Sikoa went for the Samoan Spike but Cena avoided it and hit two shoulder tackles and a slam, setting him up for the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Cena hit it and then set up for an Attitude Adjustment, but Sikoa countered and hit Cena with a Samoan Drop. Cena was still in it though, kicking out of the pin. Cena would come back again though, hitting a cross body from the top rope and going for the cover, though Sikoa was able to kick out.

Cena would then hit a choke slam and go for the pin, but even that wasn't enough to keep Sikoa down. Both men were on their feet and slugging it out, and then Sikoa hit the spinning solo and went for the pin, but Cena kicked out once again. Cena was back on his feet and locked in the STF, and Sikoa dragged Cena to the bottom rope to break it. Sikoa came out of the hold with a Samoan Spike, and then when Cena got to his feet Sikoa hit another one. Sikoa then hit Cena with a third Spike, but he kept getting up.

Cena grabbed the bottom rope and got back to his feet, but Sikoa hit one more Samoan Spike, knocking him back to the mat. Sikoa then hit several Spikes in a row, and at that point he went for the pin and got the win. Did we just see Cena's last match? Only time will tell, but after that beatdown at the end, there's at least a chance.

After the match, the crowd celebrated Cena, and he took a minute to walk out of the ring to the back. You can check out the full card and updated results for Crown Jewel below.

The Batman Spinoff The Penguin Release Date Delayed https://comicbook.com/dc/news/the-batman-spinoff-the-penguin-release-date-delayed-max-actors-strike-fall-2024/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 18:48:00 +0000 Nicole Drum 72598c3b-b950-43b6-aa0b-626cf002deec

DC's The Batman spinoff series, The Penguin, has officially been delayed. According to Deadline, the original spring 2024 launch is being delayed by the WGA and actors' strikes. Decider's Meghan O'Keefe clarified on social media that that delay pushes the series from the expected spring release to fall 2024 with no specific window offered. The Penguin had never actually been given a specific release date.

The Penguin isn't the only series that is being delayed due to the ongoing strike. On Friday it was announced that the third season of The White Lotus is now coming in 2025, as has Stephen King's IT prequel series, Welcome to Derry. There have also been delays of various films as well due to the strikes. The WGA strike concluded in October after 148 days with the writers' union reaching a new agreement with the studios. SAG-AFTR, the actors' union, is reportedly nearing a deal that would get Hollywood back to work, but nothing has been finalized at the time of this article's writing.

HBO and Max Executive Casey Bloys Says The Penguin Will Help Fight Superhero Fatigue

During a recent 2024 programming showcase in New York, Bloys argued that The Penguin and the studio's various DC-inspired television shows have a clear sense of style, something that might not be the case in the stories of other superhero competitors.

"I don't know that it's necessarily tentpole fatigue as much as it is a sameness of storytelling," Bloys explained. "I think the key, even within DC, is trying to tell different stories in different styles, to not try to do the same show over and over and over again. I would say Peacemaker is a very different show tonally than The Penguin. So, there's not a uniformity to the storytelling and I think that helps. Unfortunately, Marvel, as good as their shows are, there's probably been a lot of them. That's one of the advantages we have at Warner Bros. is it's not just one set of stories. There's a lot of stories you can go to."

What Is The Penguin About?

We don't have a tone of details yet about The Penguin, but we do know that the series is expected to be set in the aftermath of the events of The Batman.

"We are thrilled to bring audiences a new version of this iconic DC character that they have never seen before," Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content, HBO Max, said in a statement when the show was announced. "It is incredible to be working with Matt, Dylan and Lauren on continuing this story and to see Colin take his already exceptional performance in 'The Batman' to the next level."

"Colin exploded off the screen as the Penguin in 'The Batman,' and having the chance to thoroughly explore the inner life of that character on HBO Max is an absolute thrill," The Batman director Matt Reeves echoed. "Dylan and I are so excited to work with Lauren in continuing Oz's story as he grabs violently for power in Gotham."

The Batman will star Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot / The Penguin and Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone, Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni, as well as Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Deirdre O'Connell.

Attack on Titan Anime Finale Reveals Eren's Fate https://comicbook.com/anime/news/attack-on-titan-anime-eren-death/ Sat, 04 Nov 2023 18:44:00 +0000 Megan Peters 2c5466a7-713e-4761-96d3-ec91fab6f4e5

It is finally over, huh? Today marks the end of an era for the anime industry as Attack on Titan has run its course. The hit anime made its debut more than a decade ago, but all things must come to an end. Attack on Titan has launched its anime finale, and the big episode reveals Eren's fate.

So of course, be warned! There are major spoilers below for Attack on Titan. You have been warned!

If you are familiar with the Attack on Titan manga, well - you should not have been too surprised by Eren's end. The finale kept up with our top heroes as they fought against Eren and his horde of titan soldiers. Just when things seemed bleak for our team, Mikasa managed to break the defenses of the Founding Titan, and it was there she found Eren's true body.

When Eren spoke with Armin in their shared Titan minds cape, Mikasa was forced to do the unthinkable. In order to save the world from Eren, the young woman had to kill her childhood friend and true love. Mikasa managed to cut Eren's head from his body after breaking through the Founding Titan, and Eren was killed with a smile. After catching his decapitated head, Mikasa placed a kiss on Eren's lips, and yeah - you can see why fans are sobbing online over the whole ordeal.

For a decade now, Attack on Titan has made it clear that Mikasa and Eren were an endgame couple. The two have been inextricably linked since youth, and now, Mikasa is the one who brought Eren to his death. And if that kind of love is not tragic, well - what is?

If you are reeling from the end of Attack on Titan, you can always circle back and start Eren's journey from the beginning. The hit series is streaming on Hulu and Crunchyroll; Both services will begin airing the official subbed version of Attack on Titan's anime final this evening starting at 7:00 pm CST. So for those wanting more info on Attack on Titan, you can read its official synopsis below:

"Known in Japan as Shingeki no Kyojin, many years ago, the last remnants of humanity were forced to retreat behind the towering walls of a fortified city to escape the massive, man-eating Titans that roamed the land outside their fortress. Only the heroic members of the Scouting Legion dared to stray beyond the safety of the walls - but even those brave warriors seldom returned alive. Those within the city clung to the illusion of a peaceful existence until the day that dream was shattered, and their slim chance at survival was reduced to one horrifying choice: kill - or be devoured."

What do you think about the ending of Attack on Titan now that it has come to television? Let us know what you think in the comments below as well as on Twitter and Instagram. You can also hit me up @MeganPetersCB to share your take!
